Utilizing Interface Pads and Pad Savers

To enhance the versatility of Filmtek abrasives, an interface pad can be used. This thin, flexible pad attaches between the sander's backing pad and the abrasive. It allows Filmtek, which is typically rigid, to conform to contoured surfaces like a sponge would, but without the sponge's tendency to round over flat areas. Additionally, pad savers are recommended. These thin, hook-and-loop pads attach to the sander's backing pad. They protect the main backing pad from wear and tear, extending its lifespan. Pad savers also help reduce heat buildup and minimize swirl marks by providing a slight cushioning effect, contributing to a smoother finish.
