Avoiding Damage on Edges with Sponges

A common issue when sanding shaker-style doors with rigid sandpaper is that the hard backing pad of the sander can hit and damage the raised edges or cause excessive vibration, which can also damage the sander. The 10mm foam sponge offers a significant advantage here. Its thickness allows the blue sponge portion to contact and sand the edge, while the more rigid yellow backing pad remains clear of the edge.
