Prepare Roof for Skylift Bracket Installation

What happens here

Begin by carefully removing the existing asphalt shingles in the area where the Skylift brackets will be installed. This exposes the roof sheathing. Next, measure and mark the precise location for a rectangular opening in the sheathing. Using a circular saw, carefully cut out this opening. The opening must be large enough to allow the Skylift bracket to pass through and rest directly on the house's interior wall plate (top plate), ensuring the bracket is properly aligned with the structural elements beneath. Apply roofing cement and/or flashing around the edges of the cut opening to create an initial waterproof seal.

Goal: Prepare the house roof by removing shingles and cutting an opening in the sheathing where the Skylift brackets will be installed to reach the wall plate.
