Water Supply Valve For Toilet Will Not Close...SO HAPPY THIS WORKED!!

What happens here

With the old valve removed, carefully take off the existing escutcheon plate, which is often corroded or dirty. Use a utility knife and a scouring pad or emery cloth to meticulously clean the copper pipe stub extending from the wall. This removes any old sealant, corrosion, and debris, ensuring a clean surface for the new valve connection. Finally, slide the new chrome-plated plastic split escutcheon plate onto the copper pipe, positioning it flush against the wall.

Goal: Clean the exposed copper pipe stub thoroughly and then slide the new escutcheon plate into place against the wall.
