Troubleshooting and Re-tensioning Excavator Track

What happens here
During construction with heavy machinery, tracks can become loose or even come off, especially on uneven or muddy terrain. If an excavator track detaches or becomes too loose (as shown with the Daewoo 75V), it needs to be re-tensioned. First, use a skid steer or another excavator to lift the affected side of the machine, allowing access to the track tensioner. Locate the grease fitting on the track frame, typically covered by a small access panel. Use a powered grease gun (such as the Milwaukee M18 Fuel grease gun) to pump grease into the fitting. This will extend a piston that pushes the idler wheel, thereby tightening the track. Continue greasing until the track is properly tensioned (usually specified in the machine's manual). After re-tensioning, lower the machine and check the track tension again. Drive the machine a short distance to allow the track to settle, and then verify the tension one last time.
Goal: Address and repair common heavy equipment maintenance issues during a project.
