Trouble strikes the wall rebuild

What happens here

After clearing the site, a deep trench must be excavated where the base of the retaining wall will sit. This trench provides a stable foundation for the initial layer of boulders. Once the trench is dug, use a vibratory tamper (like the Wacker Neuson BS50-4 shown) to compact the soil at the bottom of the trench. This ensures a solid, unmoving base for the wall. Lay down a layer of heavy-duty geotextile fabric along the bottom and up the sides of the newly dug trench. This fabric helps to separate the soil from the base material and provides additional soil stabilization, preventing erosion and retaining wall settlement.

Goal: Create a stable, reinforced base for the retaining wall.

Tools and materials

  • Excavator Daewoo 75V — Digging the trench
  • Vibratory Tamper Wacker Neuson BS50-4 — Compacting the soil at the bottom of the trench
  • Geotextile Fabric — Lining the trench for soil separation and reinforcement
