you see this awesome open shelf concept we have this on both sides of our stove this is the design my wife had picked out this is what she's wanted and i can tell you i've been working on this for as long as i've had a youtube channel hey folks that fix it guy here and today i've been hustling you've seen these awesome shelves this has been no small feat really i've been doing this job forever when it comes to style in her house i let her deal with it you know what she's gonna make it look pretty and i'm gonna enjoy it i'm cool with that all right i just do what she wants so she found the brackets we eventually found the wood man it has taken some process so i've got one side done i'm about ready to finish the other side and i'm gonna show you what i've been doing crazy long process so come along let's get to fixing [Music] okay so i haven't put the bottom brackets of this on yet because i just wanted to show you i've been having to drill half inch holes these holes have been coming out pretty good i actually knock on wood haven't cracked one tile yet i haven't had to replace anything and i've almost did this is 20 holes now so i've just been taking some of these bosch glass and tile bits this goes from 1 8 to 5 16 and then i've also added a half inch to it this actually has been a cheaper process for me than buying one of these whole bosch kits that go from i don't even know man what is that like three quarter this goes from like one eighth to three quarter so you can see like i've just trashed some of these bits i mean they are they're bad anytime you have to go into a corner or you're drilling on a grout line you're just going to end up eating these bits up and it's a little unfortunate they're pretty costly so and to put these in we're just going to be using these snap toggle bolts right these are togglers by snap toggle you've seen me use these before and you know they hold over a couple hundred pounds which that's the reason why i use them um i could have used something different but as my luck would have it where we mounted our brackets didn't hit one stud the whole time right so it's unfortunate on either side zero stud and we had to have some kind of wall mount and in my opinion these are the best i'll put a link for these snap toggles and also for some of these bosch um glass and tile drill bits like they really are nice i know that you know other people use different kind of drill bits i know they make diamond drill bits these days but i felt like i needed something with the precision of a point so you can see i've covered my light switch up here covered up with an old sour cream container just because i don't want any water getting on that so whenever i drill i've just been using a spray bottle and we put the tape on the wall that way it doesn't split out our tile as much keeping this on i think just kind of helps the tile not break up from being drilled now i'll show you the distance from here to here is two and a half so then i'm just going to measure down right here two and a half two and a half the way i've been doing this this first one up top was very important i measured from here to here with my tape and i got my center line and then i measured i wanted these to be 18 inches from center to center which means they're 17 inches from end to end so i just took that and made it eight and a half and eight and a half and made marks on tape that i had up here previously and i just kind of made a square and then i just leveled it up i started with this bracket right here and this one top screw i put that in i put a level over on this one got it exactly where i needed to get it made my mark that's the next one i drilled from there i was able to have these two brackets on with it level and then i was able to just drill there and there went down here and then i just went off of this everything kind of went off of this after that just bam down here did this one did this one got that level across there bam bam and i'm doing the same thing right now so came down here two and a half so now i'll take this bracket i've got a short side i've got a long side we're actually putting the short side on the wall i need to put a little bit of piece of tape right here if you think i'm making this look easy i promise it has not been easy for me this is a tedious tedious job i don't want to mess it up i don't want to break a tile and so i've been very very careful and it's been a long process if you guys like the content please jump on in here click the subscribe button i'm really just trying to help and just show you that hey it's a big job but you know what in the end it's gonna be worth it man my wife is happy and happy wife happy life right okay so now i've just been going like this [Music] getting this leveled out on on both of those that way i figure if it's level here then it's going to be good to go so i just got a little stubby here try not to move that and bam there's our first mark and then i'm just going to take my spring punch here get it in the middle okay i'll start with the smallest bit i have which i'm just gonna crack open a new pack which is gonna work a lot better than others so we'll be using an eighth i can't tell you how nice it is to be able to start with a new bit man just because really after two or three holes like these things just start to suck it's so hard you're just applying pressure and squirting and honestly i've done all these holes today so i mean i've been at it you want to give that a tighten go to another hole just it's always going to snug up just a little bit more whenever you hit a second hole with with a chuck okay with this drill and tile make sure you have a pair of glasses on you don't know if applying enough pressure is gonna break this bit off or you're gonna get a little tiny shard of tile we shouldn't get any tile because we're gonna be spraying it down but better safe than sorry kind of really beats me up a little bit if somebody's got a better way of doing this like please like let me know leave me some comments i so i'm not a tile guy at all and i have a shower that i would really like to to redo and i'm gonna do it but man hopefully i never have to drill 24 holes in tile ever again okay and i don't know if you could see that but because i'm so close to the glo grout line this bit just tried to slip right down in the grout line i don't want it to do that yet not trying to get down there yet so we're just going to go up a size again unfortunately i think we're at the grout line now and then we're just going to go up one more size again let's pop that off so you can see right here that these holes are not a circular around this it kind of sucks man um these ones always tend to jack up a little bit but it is what it is and we'll get it hooked up we'll get that thing in there and just takes a little bit more time to put the bracket in at this point okay now we'll see what we can do here putting these bad boys in you can see this right here that's pretty circular they really like to be in round holes so i've had to poke and pry to try to get it in there and i've made them work so we'll see show you what i'm talking about now it's just a matter of getting this in there so i've kind of just been taking a screwdriver and i just take a flat head and just kind of poke and prod to get it in place you just got to get it it's plastic right it'll it'll transform a little bit for you so we've got it in there that that went in pretty good so the one thing about these brackets is that all of them are different right if i zoom out here none of these are the same they are all handmade and they're just a little bit different now we've got this one in we'll just take it put the level on it make sure that it's straight straight line with the other ones okay that's good to go right there just tighten this down as tight as we can get it in place and we're gonna come over here to this side put this on up here get this leveled out this way come up a little bit that way all this once again here good to roll that worked out pretty well take the little guy get that marked same process we've took the little 1 8 put a hole in it now we're going to go up in size and we're just going to keep going up so i was going to go to the next size but that last remember what i was saying that last one that hole was a killer for this it destroyed this bit so we're just going to bump up one more size here and so i've actually never had the tile once split this way i mean it's been jacked up but you can see that just broke right off of there but it's not gonna matter because it's gonna be covered up anyway so we lucked out two more left and man hopefully that knocking on wood helped this is actually the first one that i've had that's not really been a hundred percent in level i mean it's almost a full bubble but i'm still going to try to take this side down a little bit let's just try to give that a little wacky let's see what that did looks like it dropped it a little bit there we go that looks way way way better let's zoom on in on that way better that bubble looks way better so now we're going to go ahead and we're just going to make sure that these are all straight again and that's straight and we're just going to mark our holes let's grab this little bad boy bam there bam there okay we'll do the same thing over here get that in the center get that hooked up it's weird this thing is misfiring that's it two more holes so then we just repeat the same process just drilling holes man just hoping to get two more holes out of this eighth inch bit right here safety glasses on so with drilling this i'm assuming it's the same principle as any other drilling i'm not positive but pressure and speed is going to give you the optimal drill through so i'm trying to not keep it gunned down the whole way not running it the whole time or full blast right and i'm also applying some pressure to the back side so with this i'm just going to go ahead and we're going to get this hooked right up that way we don't have to switch bits so nice to be able to just go from one to the other and be able to drill two two holes at a time now kind of makes this whole process go a lot faster having to switch out bits it's times like these i kind of wish i had two drills but i okay sorry you can slap the low on that bad boy that looks pretty good right there and now we get over to this bad boy right here i open it up to half inch because i wasn't sure what was in there it looks to be like some woods in there so we're just going to take this we're going to make sure this is level right here that looks pretty good that's in bubble right there we're rocking and rolling we will leave that the way that it is and get a screw and a screw gun for down here get this leveled out call her a day so we're just going to good to rock and roll man it's on there nice and sturdy these are all nice and sturdy all right folks so that murdered me man like this has been a grueling process i this one shelf right here like i mean it looks awesome i can't say enough like my wife and i just kind of sat here when this was put in place and like hey it's finally done it looks amazing it was a long time coming heck it took us i don't know man months just to find the stain right and that's after months of trying to find what brackets and so and then it just with everything starting youtube doing all these things took me months to freaking do the tile right drill all those holes hundred dollars worth of drill bits is what it took me to do this all right i'm just being very real the wood it's kind of crazy you think with all the floating shelves and everything in kitchens these days that finding wood like this would be kind of easy was not at all so we eventually found it we got the color we wanted and kind of hoping the dude has enough wood left that maybe we can make a big farm table for our kitchen as well we'll see i really hope that everybody enjoyed this video if you could please subscribe to the channel click the like button um leave us some feedback let us know what you think i think in the end it looks really good i mean my wife is happy and if she's happy about it i'm definitely happy about it so thank you very much for watching and we hope to see you again real soon
