This Is NOT Your Average Pergola - Polycarbonate Roof and Trim
What happens here
First, apply a continuous strip of specialized foam tape (gasket) along the top surface of each rafter. This gasket acts as a buffer, reducing friction and allowing for thermal expansion and contraction of the polycarbonate panels. Next, take the bronze-tinted Palram EZ Glaze polycarbonate panels and cut them to the required length using a circular saw with a guide, ensuring the cut side will abut the house. For specific areas, like corner posts, use snips to carefully notch the panels according to the structure's contours, tracing the required notch directly onto the panel first for accuracy.
Goal: Apply specialized foam tape gaskets to the top of each rafter to provide a buffer for the polycarbonate panels. Then, cut the bronze-tinted polycarbonate panels to length, ensuring the cut edge will be against the house, and notch them to fit corner posts.
