The customer said "Build what you think is best"

would I be happy with a bigger Pond and spend more time with it and put cooler fish and more Critters in there hell yeah all right good morning it's Monday we're rolling out out out onto a new job site Alex was loaded down on his big fancy truck with all of his nice weight on there there there we got all the pond stuff up going out to Tom's Timmy has the mini X on the sh track trailer here and going to complain the entire way up but uh how how much should we doing on this Alexa it's uh like a 16 to 18t stream like a 15 by 18 pond uh paper patio 500t or so paper patio around the actual Pond couple retaining walls some nice steps of walkway going up along the the stream itself should be a pretty cool project we're doing everything so should be a nice one and we worked for Tom in the past two and he welded our Rim up on the old dump truck trailer so he's a good guy to work for money is No Object now I've not heard this often often but I've heard it enough times now as a contractor that I've begun to understand exactly what that means it doesn't mean the customer is bragging and it doesn't mean I'm bragging to you that someone would be saying that to me what it basically means is the customer is looking for the end result and not constrained to a budget number to get there the job you're going to see us doing in this next series the customer basically said that he didn't say money is No Object but what he did say was that he wanted to see a dream he wanted something that he could thoroughly enjoy and if he had to work more he would he did use those words and when we hear that it changes nothing it's not like it's all of a sudden an open checkbook that we can take advantage of not at all but what it does do is it gives a good contractor the ability to put their head inside of the customer's head and try to pull that Vision out and see exactly what it is that customer wants and how the contractor can match that up to their site and when I say it doesn't change anything it doesn't our pricing doesn't change we don't get greedy and go no our pricing for the customer that says that is the same as the pricing for the customer that doesn't say that that is on a budget we don't change anything but it allows our vision to expand it allows us to drag that customer into it and let the customer paint the final picture that they will be living with from that point forward and at the end of this series you're going to get to see exactly how that looked and the end job was a bit of a surprise to the customer as well because he gave gave us full rain but we've worked with him before on other projects so let's dive into this video and this is going to be a fun ride boys it's going to be a fun ride that's is it we're then they're going to roll out to a site I got to do some other stuff but they're going to take the camera all right so we're out at the site we got all of our pond materials over here all of our rocks different sizes our big boulders over there mediums here smaller smaller and come over here where we're going to put it in putting in a 12 by8 Pond and river that flows into it and a patio and some walls and whole big thing so that's what we're going to be doing so keep at it all right Timmy is just uh this kind of leveling out right now we got some massive rain coming this tonight so we don't I don't really want to crack open this fully to until tomorrow want to make sure the water's going to slop off and stuff so and then we're just going to get out of here it's hot muggy it's like rainforest weather right now we're going through that two days of just heat warnings and all that other stuff so guys and I say guys because this really seems to pertain more to guys than gals for some odd reason but if you are into aquariums saltwater aquariums freshwater aquariums or any kind of aquarium whatsoever then a pond will blow you a way and hear me out I got my pond I didn't want my pond I actually fought against my pond for 4 years Greg from Aquascape actually already had planned out putting a pond in my yard years ago and I'm like Greg I don't want your freaking pond in my yard I've got a house on a lake I don't want your little tiny puddle in my yard and Greg was going to put a little Pond down there um and finally I said all right let's do this thing and we did it we did it big we did it bold and I will tell you straight up up the best thing that I've ever done for landscaping for enjoyment is a pond it after finally living with one this is better than living on a lake it's better than because I know everybody in this Pond I put all of you guys in there I know every single thing that lives in there and if you're into aquariums a pond like this may not seem like ah it's right but it will it will transform everything I mean I would take a pond now over a gazebo over a deck this is a hot tub that's great I'm in that 100% more of the time than I'm in that thing I spend hours endless hours around it get a p it it's the ultimate upgrade to a landscaping it just it became a realization after actually living with one how much enjoyment a pond brings to the right person pound's not for everybody I mean if you're not into Critters or aquariums or animals or Wildlife or nature I don't know why you're here watching my videos then but if you're not into that and you're probably not going to enjoy a pond but if you are into any of those things and ecosystems and balancing things out and watching things grow and watching things Thrive and watching things take off holy crap but if you're going to get a pond get a dang big pond figure out what pond you want and then triple it ins size not a joke because you see this Pond right here that's a big pond and if I could go back in time I would make that pond three times bigger right out of the gate in fact I'm already talking about making a second pond in my own yard twice as big as that one not a joke it is so so freaking awesome and if you guys are going to invest money into a landscape I want you to have something that you say the those exact words on it's so so awesome [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and we have the bond Dam it's a whole full of rocks it ain't but yeah we got the spillway in yeah Spillway in over here there it's three tiered doesn't look like it but it is is then there's going to be a waterfall right here where this Blank Spot is it's going to walk down we going to have a patio over here on this end and Dry Creek bed over there and then we're just getting it roller packed up cuz apparently we got 3 to 5 in of rain coming tonight so who knows that they're right on that but it's getting dark you can see like blue sky there you can see that cloud bank it's going rain it's going it's going to rain it's coming and temperature is dropping quick yeah so we're all scrambling trying to get stuff set and squared away so that way everything doesn't flood away hey but we'll be back tomorrow hopefully depending on what the weather in holds for us all right good morning everybody we're back it's been a couple days is we got that in on Friday coup days for me it's been a couple of days the camera's been a couple of days you were here Friday a couple is two anything more than that is a few a few yeah yeah well Sam Sam was here Friday a Friday doesn't count dude and then Alex was here yesterday he got this all done we got that in on Friday they were mapping out everything do not just hire anybody to do a pond if you're thinking about doing one a pond or having one installed for you make sure you check out the contractors because ponds they're intimidating because they're easy to screw up on so many different ways it's you can screw up the Aesthetics of a pond and make it look artificial really the best looking ponds have a style it may be naturalistic it may be something else it may be Victorian it may be something else so there's all of these different kinds and ways of making a pond but there's also the wrong way to make a pond which is like a ring of pearls and this is the typical mistake that a lot of guys make they dig the hole and then they stick Stones equally all the way around the pond and they call that a ring of pearls it's a terrible look it just looks so artificial and not natural all of our team before we would tackle a job like this for Tom or anybody we've gone through years of training with Aquascape the best thing I can tell you is if you're going to hire somebody to do a pond specifically a pond hire an Aquascape certified contractor because they've actually gone through the training they've had to show what they've accomplished and they've been certified to accomplish that work the right way there's a lot of companies that'll just throw ponds in for you I'm just telling you I don't get I don't care if you pick them or you don't pick them it's your backyard you're going to be living in it but after knowing what I know I wouldn't even attempt to do this if Alex Tim and I hadn't been to multiple training Zach and Sam have been to my house they helped build my pond all of us have gone through extensive training to understand how to do this so that the end result is something that we could be proud of and hand over to a customer and believe in it there's a right way and a wrong way to do that I just want you guys I want you guys to get the right [Music] way we spring any leaks that's what we're looking for no she's filling up here going to be some dirty water coming through there why isn't it going to be clean because we got all that dirt there coming in no way oh yeah and whatever was in the lines no way there wasn't oh you're being sarcastic all right filling all the cracks and edges and [Applause] [Music] stuff baby it is hitting on that rock like you were thinking Tim day pry good you get that s off of that [Music] of this full on right here yeah on the highest yeah some of these in the mle here we're not getting as much water dam all right this is not even close to being the finish on this job site this is just the start this Pond that you've seen us do is just one focal point we wanted to bring a lot of interest a lot of we wanted to bring nature back into this uh this customer's home because Maya Angelou said it best a person will never remember what you did they'll never remember what you said but they will always remember how you made them feel so when we were given this open checkbook to create something we were going for a feeling we were going for that oh check this out it surpasses just finishing a project and walking away it leaves this indominable feeling on the customer but also us it's freaking awesome when we can share the joy and excitement of something like this and so we want to share it with
