What happens here
This project demonstrates using a Kubota SVL97-2 compact track loader with a CMP Hydra Rake attachment for land grading, specifically creating a trail. It covers setting up the equipment, operating it for grading, and addressing common challenges like hidden obstacles and equipment wear that can lead to broken parts during such strenuous work.

(8,897 characters)ooh nice are you impressed that belt's not supposed to be like that oh we were smelling we were smelling belt cooking poof a lot of machines start on fire because the dust doesn't get cleaned off so it was Zach's birthday [Music] yesterday test test test Zach says my machine's on fire this is not on fire but when I was in the cab it smelled like something was burning so do you see anything no I didn't see anything you kind of smell it when you open the engine bay but the engine bay is covered in so much damn dust that it's probably just a dust cooking off oh I can smell [Music] it could be dust doesn't smell oh yeah she Dusty yeah everything's covered who's this maintenance man that likes maintenance so much oh you're damn it e so covered in dust so it was Zach's birthday yesterday and I forgot to even wish him a happy birthday well I did sing you happy birthday Nikki and I after I reminded you my birthday so where are we going to lunch wherever you want you figured it out yet not really okay that you can really smell it if you get into that apartment I think she just needs the either cool down or I think this thing can run it in a pinch but run running fulltime I don't know if she's well how it seems like it's doing pretty good it's doing pretty it's doing a pretty good job let's let her cool I'll take you out to lunch and I'll open all the B up and we'll come back and we'll see uh we'll give her another test run and we'll see uh just kind of keep an eye on it see how that thing goes all right well we're going to take a a a break I'm going bring Zach out for his birthday lunch and uh we'll see you guys in just a moment so a real good point is if you do end up doing forestry mulching a lot of machines start on fire because the dust doesn't get cleaned off right yeah that's why certain ones will have that back fan or whatever that yeah but put a forestry head on it run it and don't clean it and it's guaranteed to start on fire guaranteed guaranteed because uh you know it gets all that you know the dry particulate matter then that gets hot it sits on the machine poof all right so over lunch we made an executive decision sometimes that happens and we decided that for just the sake of checking things out we're going to switch right yeah see you how that one does is yeah we just want to see how it works how the the CMP works on the front of this machine and how well the machine itself holds up with that do you notice anything no oil leaks nothing like that no no nothing looks like something hit hit the fan at one point in time but I don't oh jeez yeah that don't look good I don't see any damage on any other blades so something must have got up in there I don't know got up in it busness all right oh that brush is smoking uhoh what's going on I was wonder why I didn't have AC belt missing yeah belt jumped oh that's what we were smelling we were smelling belt cooking I was wonder why I didn't have AC okay that belt's not supposed to be like that probably not laying on the ground that's probably why that fan blade looks that way too the belt jumped and it smacked it it should have jumped that high okay all right technical difficulties we'll get this put back together when I say we I mean him we I me yep and then uh then we'll get back to to operating okay so when plan a doesn't work and plan B doesn't work you just go with plan C you've always got a plan C right well our plan C is the cast is lost the belt Zach's going to work on that he says it's not a big deal which means it's going to take a couple hours everything in Zach World takes a couple hours and I want to get this done before a couple hours is up so while he's messing around getting the cast loader put back together I'm going to take that Kabota svl 97 one of my two favorite skid loaders of all time the Kabota svl 97-2 is one of them and the ASV 75 not the VT the RT it's the RT that I like action there we go the magic of a microphone I'm going to go into the cab of this machine and you guys should still be able to hear me I'm getting tired you guys it's been a long day should be able to still hear me is fine all right let's check this out green means go here ooh nice are you impressed who yeah baby all right I'm going to put the door down it has a electrical hookup you don't need to hook it up to the electrical of the machine it actually has a separate control like I said I'm not going to use it simply because I don't need to angle it today I just need to bust through some stuff and get a bunch of stuff done Zach I need to get through there I'm going to go grab the kabot I'll grab the greas gun you want me to wait yeah uh it's going to take me like 10 minutes land come on land get it yep that'd be different if I wasn't so allergic to these things that thing stings me I'm going to puff up like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man all right you guys you probably tuned in last time and you seen Zach and I started to bust out the grading job using the cast loader and the sey forestry head except the cast loader skipped the belt while he's doing that I got a bust out some grading work we've got a beautiful day and we only got today to get it done and if I can get all this grading done that gives the vegetation that much more time to reestablish and this is prime growing season you guys Prime so without wasting anybody's time we've got the CMP hooked up we're going to go over and we're just going to start grading it out and see how that does we got some gnarly stuff we're going to be hitting with this thing and I already did a walk around with this thing for you so you can see what we've got there all right let's go to work one of the things I was saying earlier about this uh CMP hydrog gra or not hydrog grapple well they make a hydrog grapple the CMP makes good stuff in general um it's just got the perfect balance of uh it's not too not too Overkill as I'm going forward I can have it move forward if I want to pull material B backwards I just hit the reverse button so whatever way I feel like I need to add material and I'm floating off the front wheels of this machine and the benefit the beauty of this this is what it this is the you know the tool is doing what it's supposed to do [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right little bit of a break didn't get very far to hit a couple stumps every time you guys seen it going that was a buried stump here's one it popped straight out of the ground but the last stump that I went blo on just jammed the fin right into the power head so we're just going to remove it we don't need it looks like that's a sacrificial lamb anyway it doesn't need to be there we'll just pop that off so these these plates are designed to capture material and help you move it to where you got to go but all you got to do is really depend on the front wheels as you're working you get to the end of it you start raising it up you feather everything out then you bring it back down as you come to the back you feather it up and so you're just reincorporating all the material in and you technically you know what you're doing you don't even need those plates but they're nice definitely nice but I'm going to pop them off off I'm going to pop that one off cuz it's obviously kapoot kapoot but you know that's what I was saying earlier about like CMP lot of thought goes into these things like right here if this plate was welded on could be done I'd be done till I got a sledy and I ledi that son of a duck out but instead I pop it out I got a deadline I'm working on I moved that to the side now I can take this plate that's bent Kitty Wampus that's how much it bent right there that's what did to it I I'll lay that on my workbench pound that flat I'll be back in business but for now until I do that I'm still in business that's how long the repair took [Music] I don't think I'm supposed to do this job today you guys I can't make this crap up here it is the front wheel fell off it fell completely off oh the bearings fried they're dead that just toasted all right ah dead dead in the water oh boy all right we still got one wheel you think we can do the job with one wheel I think we can do the job with one wheel I don't think we need two wheels I think if it had one wheel right in the center we could do it but my one wheel's on the side we'll put this in the spare material pile yep we just leave it there for now but it does a pretty dang good job I it does do a good job that thing has not been rode hard and put away wet meaning I I mean I I freaking I treat that that piece of equipment like a I like it so I don't beat the heck out of it I don't give it to my Crews but hey everything breaks don't forget that and don't hold that against this everything breaks there's nothing that doesn't so the best piece of equipment you can buy is the one that has the best dealer that can service you and keep you going
