What happens here
This video, despite being categorized under 'Generator Integration in Home Systems' by the user, actually showcases the operation of heavy equipment (excavator with various attachments) for yard cleanup and ditch clearing. Interspersed with these demonstrations, the presenter shares valuable business lessons, particularly emphasizing bidding strategies and the philosophy of not 'racing to the bottom' when pricing services. The core message revolves around valuing one's time and expertise rather than undercutting competitors.

for it you I'm going to bet have paid for this strategy but just never applied it like we're going to do today it's going to be an awesome video we're going to go out and clean up and uh organize the yard get that straightened up and I'm going to share with you one of the secrets that has made me a lot of money that you can absolutely do as well so let's get into today's [Music] mhm and then you found your phone yeah my phone I thought wa look at the phone mine my own oh where was it on the floor behind the driver's seat huh supposing I was crawling around in there they didn't start eating on that which really surprises me cuz they usually will eat on that foam cuz they got that foam from someplace right yeah freaking mice I wonder I think I heard mothballs were good to MTH balls are supposed to yeah I never I don't know but yeah moth balls got to smell better than oh definitely they're better than rancid mice yeah oh golly it just stinks in that bad oh gosh to see all that black stuff you know it's it's actually piss and stuff where do you get that Poof from Walmart sells up only certain ones though you know have you seen it what Walmart have you seen it at do we have the when I bought mine oh jeez but I'm just saying some Walmart it's got it it's on that TV roll you know where they got that one section up yeah the TV yeah yeah I wonder if this is just bad I mean just getting near this is bad you know but see they might have you know we might have to pull the interior I don't know where they' you know how far they gotten in and what they kind of done you know I don't know is this that dent you were talking about I po part of it out just from the inside just took my palm of my hand it hit really hard up huh wrap it once cuz that's the roof is right up see you got part of it but I just can't I didn't get good I couldn't get good enough swing or hit in there huh got put his foot up there too maybe and push push yeahp all right can you help me get this this thing on I'm going to start cleaning the ditch while you're working on the car all right so we did have a struggle connecting up the hydraulic hoses cuz here's the thing if you ever have a struggle connecting up your hydraulic hoses what could have happened is if you let an attachment sit long enough like we let this one sit for over a year now it builds up its own pressure just from the temperature rising and falling so the hotter it is during the day the more the pressure will rise in a sealed system so to get this one on Frankie iight together couldn't push it on what we ended up doing is cracking the hose and releasing some pressure right there so instead of struggling if your attachment isn't connecting up look for a way that you can really just a little bit of pressure just to crack you don't have to take it all the way off just crack it let a little juice run flow flow free and pop your connections together and then put it back uh tighten everything back up now that we got her hooked up let's get to uh cleaning up the state of Minnesota taught me this one when I said there's a secret way to make a lot of money I learned it from the state of Minnesota when I was very young in my career they contacted me about cleaning out a pond I had to go demu it and it was early in the spring and I was hungry I was just a young contractor and wanted to make some money I bid this job that's cleaning out this pond at $5,500 and to me this was an excellent job early spring job super easy maybe a day project at best and I really wanted this thing and I kept contacting the state hey can we do this job can we do this job and I finally got a response saying that they had to let it for bid and that's the terminology that they use when they say they have to put this out and get multiple bids they can't just give a project to one person rightfully so well I was a young hungry contractor and I wasn't going to sit and wait so I kept bidding kept bidding and I started to fill up my schedule fill up my schedule and I got my schedule completely full and by the time they came back around to allowing this to bid I was already busy I couldn't even take on any more work but they did reach out to me and say hey St we need a bid on doing this Pond now my original bid was $5,500 the state was expecting me to turn in a bid for $5,500 but I was busy so I took that $5,500 Bid And I multiplied it by three I turned in a bid for the exact same work for $16,500 and I handed it over to them and I didn't even blink cuz I was didn't care I was busy and they looked at it now this is let forbid and this is a public bid meaning that they have to open this in front of the public public and I was the only public that attended the bid opening cuz I was curious to see what everybody else was going to do in this thing I was one of two biders the second bid that came in $33,000 now of course I got the job and it was an easy job it took me a single afternoon to do it two wheelbarrows three of us guys went out and Dem mucked a pond and we put a lot of money into our pocket really fast but that taught me a couple different lessons and the first one is when I said you have probably paid for this lesson if you have ever gone to the post office FedEx UPS they give you options how fast do you want your project done do you want do you want your envelope shipped overnight well the price is going to be three four five times what it is if you need 2 to 3 day service and that's going to still be more expensive if you then you want just regular delivery so people are willing to pay for Speedy Delivery it's programmed into our very bones but contractors don't take the same mind frame that UPS United States Postal Service FedEx DHL and all these other shipping companies do we just give a flat rate fee and it doesn't make a difference what it boils out to the other thing is I know I've done this before where I've given out prices and you guys have condemned me on on it and some of you guys says oh you're just screwing the state or you just ripped them off well for you maybe I ripped them off but in my point of view my bid for that pond project was $16,500 and the next bid was $33,000 I did it for half of what the next guy was willing to do it for so in that case I saved them $16,500 but I also screwed myself because it's not a race to the bottom it's not about how cheap you can do a job it's about how good you can do a job because when you go out to a customer's house you are the professional to take the burden off from the customer they have hopes and dreams and a lot of times they don't want the absolute cheapest thing there are people that will give them the absolute cheapest thing but what happens is when you are the lowball bidder and you start to cut your yourself you have to cut corners and you're not delivering on the dreams of what these customers want it's don't race to the bottom and that's what a lot of contractors do they race to the bottom they try to do it cheaper than the next guy they try to see how cheap they can possibly do it they brag about how cheap they can do it absolutely not try to be the contractor that can brag about how good you can do a job and maximize your own Capital because when you are able to get the maximum payment out of something you are able to put the maximum effort into something you are able to hire the best guys to do the job you are able to give the best get the best materials for that job but if you are the guy that brags about how cheap you can do something you can't pay your guys good you can't use the best materials and you don't have any fluff any cushion in case something happens to be able to H handle that allocate for it and to do still do the app absolute best possible work you can don't race to the bottom there's plenty of contractors that think that's how bids should be done don't do that now when I say I screwed myself on that job I originally bid it at $5,500 and it would have been a good money maker at that rate and then multiplied it by three and raised that price up to $16,500 because the the state decided to postpone me on that but I could have went into that exact same bid at $32,900 $100 cheaper than the next bid and still gotten that job do you see the difference in thinking so you see don't race to the bottom thinking that that's the best way to run your business now I've actually had customers ask how much to get bumped up in line because we have a a waiting line anywhere from three months to a year on average for us to come in and do a project and I got to ask that question so many times that I actually started to answer it because I never changed what I was doing until I started to work for the state and I realized that your time is valuable and some customers will pay more for your time and I had one guy went out to do a bid on a drain tile job and I just had to dig some drain tile in dry up his yard and I bid it at $1,500 and that was a decent bit and he L this was on a Tuesday and he looked at me and says how much to get you here on Saturday and I looked straight at them and I said $44,000 without blinking because in my head I had to do some calculations I got to pay my guys overtime I've got to come in my guys are going to be exhausted and tired I've got to make it worth their time and I'm not going to do all of that without getting something out of it and he excited Ed that bid it took one afternoon to do the drain tile job he was happy some customers are willing to pay to get expedited service and I'm not saying bump everything everybody else back in the line but if you got to kick some overtime in to do something like that and put some extra money in your pocket make sure it's worth it to you don't just bid it just a little bit higher ups doesn't do it UPS and FedEx and the United States Postal Service charges three four five times more to ship the same package if you want overnight then if you want standard delivery so why aren't we doing it as contractors that's the secret that's helped me make a lot of money you've seen how much I made in today's video off from doing that but that's going to call it for this one I hope you guys enjoy some of these lessons I've learned the hard way in life and some of the lessons I've learned the good way in life God bless plus go get him you guys we'll catch you on another one
