Installing Concrete Edge Restraint

The BIGGEST Patio We’ve EVER BUILT!
What happens here
After all the pavers are laid and the final adjustments are made, a concrete edge restraint is installed around the perimeter of the patio. This is done by first pulling back excess bedding sand to create a trench for the concrete. A special concrete mix, reinforced with fibers for added strength and crack resistance, is prepared using a mixer. This strong concrete is then shoveled into the trench along the paver edges. Using a trowel, the concrete is meticulously shaped and sloped away from the pavers, creating a robust, long-lasting edge that prevents the pavers from shifting or separating over time. For landscape beds, the concrete edge can be less precise as it will be covered with mulch, but for grass areas, it should be kept about an inch below the paver surface and aggressively sloped for easy mowing.
Goal: This crucial step involves mixing and applying a fiber-reinforced concrete mix to create a durable and stable edge restraint around the entire paver patio, ensuring the pavers remain locked in place.
