And this isn't the only feature hiding in here. And you've probably noticed every 16 in is marked red, and that makes laying out studs 16 in on center easy. But if you keep going, you'll notice these black diamonds, and those are for a different layout. Those diamonds divide 8 ft into five equal parts, roughly 19 and 3/16 in apart. But what about when you need inside measurement? That's what this measurement's for. It tells you the length of your case. But while we're down here, let's make sure you can actually read this thing. You've got inches, halves, quarters, eighths, and 16ths. The shorter the line, the smaller the fraction. So, read your tape, add the case, and that's your measurement. And if you ever thought this thing was loose, it's actually supposed to move. Pull from the outside edge and it slides out, or push against something and it slides in. That movement accounts for the thickness of the hook, so zero always stays zero. And this slot right there, it helps you grab a nail or a screw when you're working alone. And how far your tape can extend without folding? Well, that's called stand out. Turns out that there's a lot more hiding in a tape measure than just measurements. Anyways, it's Friday night and I got stuff to do. I'll catch you guys later. Peace.
