Install Escutcheon and Female Angle Stop
At 10:21 in
SUPER EASY REPLACEMENT OF PLASTIC WATER VALVE ON COPPER PIPE!
What happens here
After the soldered joint has cooled, re-install the plastic escutcheon. Since the new male adapter extends further than the original valve, the escutcheon will no longer fit flush against the wall. To adapt it, use a utility knife to cut a slit from the center hole to the edge of the escutcheon. This allows you to slide it around the newly installed male adapter. Next, apply several wraps (3-5) of PTFE thread seal tape (ProSelect brand shown) to the threads of the male adapter, skipping the very first thread to allow for easier starting of the connection. Then, apply a layer of thread sealant (Megaloc brand shown) over the Teflon tape. Finally, thread the female angle stop onto the male adapter and hand-tighten. Use two adjustable wrenches to tighten the angle stop, ensuring it is level and secure. Turn the valve to the 'off' position to indicate completion.
Goal: Complete the installation of the new angle stop valve
