Stop The Leak In Your Kitchen Sink! Learn How To Replace The Drain Strainer
What happens here
After reassembling the drain pipes, perform a final tightening of the main retaining nut under the sink. Then, go back to the sink basin and clean up any newly squeezed-out plumber's putty using a utility knife or your finger for a clean finish. Now, re-attach the tailpiece. Slide the slip nut and washer onto the tailpiece. Insert the tailpiece into the P-trap connection and then slide the top end over the threads of the new basket strainer. Tighten both slip nuts, first by hand, then a final quarter-turn with pliers.
Goal: Reassemble the drain system and complete the strainer installation.
