What happens here
After sanding, it is critical to thoroughly clean the mantel surface to remove all traces of sanding dust. First, use a dedicated dusting brush to sweep off the bulk of the loose dust from all surfaces, including crevices. Then, follow up by wiping down the entire mantel with a clean microfiber cloth. Ensure the cloth is lint-free and slightly damp (if desired, with water or a mild cleaner appropriate for the primer) to pick up any remaining fine dust particles. A completely clean surface is essential for proper adhesion and a smooth finish of the topcoat.
Goal: Remove all sanding dust and debris to ensure optimal adhesion of the final paint coat.
