Rocky Mountain Race Week Preparation: 10 Bolt Posi Install + EBC Brakes Upgrade! (Uncle Rob Yukon)

What happens here

The presenter shows 'piston insert cushions' that came with the brake pads, which are designed to reduce noise and vibration. He highlights the importance of putting anti-seize compound on caliper bolts to facilitate future brake changes, a common practice in regions with rust. He also reveals that he had to file and grind the crusty caliper brackets to ensure the new pads fit without being stuck, correcting a previous issue that caused poor braking performance.

Goal: Properly install brake pads and address caliper bracket issues for smooth operation.

Tools and materials

  • Brake Pads EBC Brakes — Providing friction for braking
  • File — Filing down crusty caliper brackets
  • Grinder — Grinding down crusty caliper brackets
  • Piston Insert Cushions — Reducing brake noise and vibration
  • Anti-Seize Compound — Preventing corrosion on caliper bolts

these little thingies they go in the piston i'm not exactly sure what they're for but they want you to put them in there so i put them in there there's a piece of paper that says their purpose um i just can't find it or i would show it to you give me a minute oh i think it's over here ah yeah piston insert cushions these piston cushions form an anti-vibration interface between the pistons and the rear brake pads where all brake noises generate and eliminate brake squeals or squeak so that's what they're for so we're going to put them in because we don't want squeaky brakes there you go pads look way too fancy for uncle rob but you know what it's fine because deep down uncle rob deserves this uh yeah you know put anti-seize on the caliper bolts just because it helps change the next time these ones really needed them uh they weren't too bad to get off i think whoever done these before um had thought ahead that's kind of a typical thing up north we always always always put nacs on anything that has to do with brakes because they suck to get off when you don't do that i went ahead and the front ones too that was difficult because the brackets are so crusty that they were swollen behind the slider you know clips that the pads were like stuck in there i had to beat those out with a hammer and also the new ones want to do the same thing so i had to file the slides file the edges grind the sides like to make it so they weren't all tight in there because i'm i'm convinced that's why the brakes were so terrible in this thing because the the front pads were just like stuck they weren't they weren't clamping they weren't releasing it was just stuck this is not good all around this side was not as bad but i think i'm probably gonna take it apart tomorrow and file that down too because on race week i don't want to have any problems with you know like the one side starts to drag or something like that the back
