Water Chemistry Acclimation and Release
At 9:10 in
Releasing fish into the FARM POND!! Education, new cows..and a surprise!
What happens here
After temperature acclimation, the creator gently unties the fish bags. He then uses a Mason jar to slowly add pond water into the bags, gradually mixing it with the existing water in the bags. This process helps the fish adjust to the pond's water chemistry. He reiterates the importance of proper acclimation to prevent fish death. Once the bags contain a significant amount of pond water, he lays them on their side at the water's edge, allowing the fish to swim out on their own when they are ready. He emphasizes that channel catfish do not typically breed in standard ponds without specific habitats like caves or log piles.
Goal: Allow fish to acclimate to pond water chemistry and release them without stress.
