Reclaimed Wood Dinning Table

What happens here

For the breadboards, which are end-grain caps, cut pieces of reclaimed wood to the desired width and prepare them by creating mortises that match those on the ends of the glued-up tabletop. Apply wood glue to the mating surfaces, focusing on the center portion where a tight-fitting tenon will be placed. The outer tenons should be slightly looser or unglued to allow the main tabletop to expand and contract with humidity changes without cracking the breadboards. Use a rubber mallet to gently tap the breadboards onto the tabletop, ensuring a flush and tight fit. Clamp the assembly securely and allow the glue to dry completely. For additional security, drill and insert dowels through the breadboards into the tabletop, again ensuring these allow for wood movement.

Goal: Cut and prepare breadboards, which are end caps for the table, by creating corresponding mortises. Then, glue and secure them to the main tabletop, ensuring proper alignment with loose tenons at the ends and a tight tenon in the center to allow for wood movement.

now when it comes to the ends of the table I don't want exposed wood especially you can see the grain it's yellow it's orange specifically because it's a red wood and so it's not really gonna flow with the look of this table so bread boards are gonna be my go-to now bread boards are essentially end caps for the table and there's a little bit of a technique when it comes to installing bread and pools as you saw in the video I've put a bunch of tenants that are going all the way through on each board now all the tenants are mostly loose tenants I means they can move a little bit inside of the slide but the center tenant is a tight tenant now the center tenant is what keeps the bread board on along with dowels on the ends this will prevent my boards from moving you can't pull it off and the same time it will it will give it and at the same time it will give room for the table to expand and contract as it gets hot cold humidity changes
