Plow FIGHT! head to head F-14 sno power VS western 8' 6" V plow

What happens here

Compare the wiring harness of the Sno-Power F14 to the previous Western plow. The Western harness is complex, requiring splicing into headlights, parking lights, and running through a module. In contrast, the Sno-Power F14 uses a simple plug-and-play system with only two wires: one for power and one for the controller. It connects directly to a power supply and a fuse box, making installation significantly easier and less prone to issues like burnt-out connectors found in more intricate systems.

Goal: Understand the simplicity of the Sno-Power F14 wiring

Tools and materials

  • 10-amp Fuse — Protection for the Sno-Power F14 wiring harness
  • Sno-Power F14 Wiring Harness Sno-Power — Providing electrical connection and control for the new plow
  • Western Plow Wiring Harness Western — The previous, more complex harness on the truck

see how the install is going okay so why are you saying this is a much simpler harness wire harness than the Western oh I mean with the Western harness you can see down here you're spliced into the headlights the parking lot this is the Western harness yeah this is part of it yeah and then it goes to a module over there and then to the actual harness down here and this one is just simply a plug and play where you got 12 volt power and your controller wire is right here which it just ran straight down to here you know it doesn't get any simpler than that so it's just one wire two wires yep power and controller wire and you're not wiring into the headlights and that's that was part of what we were just talking about we were having problems with it yeah the Western wiring harness yep will happen with the actual connector for the where the headlights plug in it would burn out and instead of just splicing a new plug on there you actually have to replace the entire lighting section of the wire harness and it's almost 500 bucks for just to harness itself so this is it right here yep this gray wire here and this one gets hooked into power supply in your fuse box and is there a circuit on it yep there's a 10 amp views in here so the fuse will blow before you heard anything else okay I mean because otherwise the Western Plow has been pretty good I think it's been good I am a big fan of Western yeah they're one of the best plows out there in my opinion yeah I mean we used a Western Plow straight blade for 11 years and to re we rebuilt it a couple times and that's just a couple bolts pop the motor out pop a new one in everything was super easy everything about the Western is fairly easy for servicing wise on the plow itself when you get into the wiring inside the truck that's when we usually have to bring it in because that's a little bit more out of my pay grade at least yeah agreed
