Paver Patio [EPIC DESIGN] - Vlog 7

What happens here

The patio design features a double border using 'Old Vienna Raven' pavers, which are dark grey/black, and larger 'Nickloc Alpine Contemporary' pavers, sized 24x36 inches in a color scheme with blue tones. The team begins by laying the double border pavers along the edges of the prepared setting bed. The larger, light-colored pavers are then carefully placed within this border. The pavers are laid in a three-piece pattern, ensuring a strong interlock. As they are laid, the pavers are tapped into place with a rubber mallet to achieve a tight fit and level surface. Cuts are made using an IQ saw and cut-off saw to fit the pavers around the curved pool edge and other obstacles.

Goal: Install all pavers and borders according to the design plan.

Tools and materials

  • Alpine Contemporary Pavers — Forming the main field of the patio
  • Cut-Off Saw — Making straight cuts on pavers
  • IQ Saw — Making precise cuts on pavers, especially for curves and edges
  • Old Vienna Raven Pavers Nickloc — Creating the double border around the patio
  • Pry Bar / Flat Bar — Adjusting pavers for alignment
  • Rubber Mallet — Tapping pavers into the setting bed for a tight, level fit

All right, looking good. 3/8 chipstone setting bed looking beautiful and nice and straight and flat and beautiful. So, we're going to start uh in this corner and we're going to do uh we're doing a double row of this which is the old Vienna Raven by Nicolock. Nice nice black paper. See that right there? That's the face mix. They call it a paper shield. Nice paper. So, we're doing double border of this and then we're going to get to these big boys. So, that's why we got that. [Music] [Applause] [Music] So, I measured out a couple things. We're going to have uh again the 24x36 slabs going all the way around here, kind of like a walkway. And I just don't want to be left with like a small sliver. So, figured it out. We're going to have them run this way 36 in wide to here, then it turns. But, uh we'll just have a small cut here as it turns. And if we run it 3T wide here, then turn it, we'll go all the way there, and we should have uh to cut off just a little bit off of this last slab. So, uh it'll look like full pieces. So, I think that's going to be the best way to go. And then when we get there, we'll turn again, go all the way to the pool, and we're going to have a ton of cuts over there. So, uh not going to matter as much, but we'll figure that out for kind of each run here and, uh make sure it looks nice. [Music] All right, we got our pavers here. We're using Nicolock. Uh again, bringing back the Alpine Contemporary 24x36 and we got a lot done yesterday. A lot of the uh initial prep. So, what we're going to do, got a little bit more of these 2x3 slabs. We're going to lay around this corner. It's going to go in front of the steps, and that way we have an inside corner to work off of. And that's where we'll start laying our Alpine Contemporary three-piece pattern. So, we're going to start in this corner. I was initially thinking of starting in that far corner, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'm going to walk over the screed bed and work backwards. This way, we can have the pavers right here and uh just lay here and work that way. So, we'll get after it. Should be pretty good. This color is silver mist. Love it. Then we got the raven border. A pretty simple uh border detail here. Just a double raven border. We have a lot of other things going on. So, didn't want to get too crazy with the border detail because there's already a lot of details going into the patio. So, we'll uh start laying this and hopefully by the end of the day, we've got this…
