One of my all time favorite before and afters 😍 #designandbuild #outdoorliving #deckdesign

What happens here

Adjacent to the deck, a paver patio is constructed. The first step is to prepare a stable base. This involves spreading a layer of crushed stone or gravel over the excavated area. This base material is then compacted using a plate compactor to create a dense, stable foundation that will prevent settling and shifting of the pavers. A thin layer of bedding sand is then spread and screeded to provide a perfectly level surface for the pavers.

Goal: Create a stable and level base for the patio pavers.

Tools and materials

  • Plate Compactor — Compacting the crushed stone base
  • Rakes — Spreading crushed stone and bedding sand
  • Screed Board — Leveling the bedding sand
  • Shovels — Moving and distributing base materials
  • Bedding Sand — Providing a level surface for pavers to rest on
  • Crushed Stone/Gravel — Creating the primary load-bearing base for the patio
