Deck Post and Beam Installation

What happens here
With the site prepared, the construction of the deck's foundation begins. This involves installing pressure-treated lumber posts, which are typically set into concrete footings (though not explicitly shown, this is standard practice for deck stability). A ledger board is securely attached to the house's rim joist, providing a strong anchor for the deck structure. Subsequently, primary support beams, also made of pressure-treated lumber, are installed on top of the posts, creating the main framework that will support the deck joists. Workers use drills, levels, and measuring tapes to ensure accuracy.
Goal: Establish the main structural support for the multi-level deck.
Tools and materials
- Circular Saw — Cutting lumber to size
- Cordless Drill/Driver — Drilling pilot holes and driving fasteners
- Level — Ensuring posts and beams are perfectly horizontal and vertical
- Measuring Tape — Accurate measurements for cutting and placement
- Deck Fasteners — Securing lumber components together
- Pressure-Treated Lumber — Horizontal supports for the deck joists
