What happens here

This project details the process of diagnosing and repairing air leaks in an RV's air suspension system. The main tasks involve safely lifting the large vehicle, locating specific leaking push-lock fittings connected to air tanks, replacing them with more durable compression fittings, and addressing a secondary leak found in the process. The video also highlights the importance of thorough inspection and the benefits of using robust components for such critical systems.

all right so day two if you can't hear from the last video yesterday i changed the air compressor governor on this thing and today we are going to leak chasing underneath this thing i have never been under here before um so that'll be a little interesting i got some huge jack stands that we're gonna have to take out of the box and pick this thing up and find a good place to to crib it is what they call it but yeah i don't know why they called that in race car world you just put jackson's under your car seat oh good group different terminology driver and passenger side rear have their own tank so my intuition would lead me to believe that the driver's side rear tank is leaking somehow either through um a water drain i heard there's like an automatic water drain on there maybe or um you know that [ __ ] or the line going to it but it's audible you can hear it you can hear it in the last video so i'm going to say that now that's my prediction because this this whole side sinks relatively evenly compared to everything else i mean the whole rear sinks but this side sinks much quicker so i'm betting that's where it is especially if i um air it up the whole way like in full lift mode this side will just way quicker than all the other ones first let's go unbox these jack stands if you're wondering yeah i do that about 90 000 times a day every time i work on something so stands are in there okay so i'm really confused here i thought i was opening jack stands but it's a wheel these are my 22s for the for the escalade okay i got a couple questions here if that's not my jack stands where are my jack stands and where are the other three wheels this is weird if you're not already aware it's come to my attention that of most people on my channel don't even know what what i do like that's that escalade is really what i'm known for everywhere else except youtube apparently um yeah and those are my street those which just showed up on my street wheels for this thing um it's got cage and stuff i race it everywhere that's that's why i bought the newel um it's a 2013 escalade it makes it honest about 2000 horsepower and it makes just as much torque as the series 60 does in my in my newer so if you've never seen it before that's what i do uh yeah so back to newell stuff let's see if we can find these freaking jack stands i've been looking for this jack stand box for like 20 minutes all right like i thought i thought this was it because they're like relatively big but no it's a wheel instead which i didn't even know was coming but i went over the other half of the building because that's where they drop off like the big stuff and the guy working over there like barely speaks english after making like six laps around the building i finally tried to ask him and now all i could make out was uh very heavy and cart okay well maybe it's still on the golf cart and it is so we're back in action we've got the box opened up you can see what the deal is here they're way beefier than like a typical car jack stand now that i got these underwear and that whole fiasco is out of the way fire this thing up lift it up find a good place to put these and we'll get to work stands are under there i found a good place in the frame to put them and uh i can still hear that air leak but i'm gonna fire this thing up for just like a minute just to get more pressure in it to make it more apparent when i spray the bubbles on there man i love listening to this thing it just sounds so cool people say detroit's rattle too much and they blah blah blah make too much noise i think that rattle is like the coolest thing it sounds like boulders rolling down a hill i don't know i just like it do you like the detroit rattle do you like it much i do under there look around a little bit trying to anyway it's really hard for me to fit i don't fit very well with the creeper i'm not willing to wedge myself under the transmission slash oil pan and without the creeper i can't move very quickly which also concerns me because i don't like being under this thing anyway so i'm going to pull this rear mud flap off so i can slide in that way without dragging across this all the time this thing probably hasn't been taken off in 25 years now with that out of the way it frees up some more room for me to to slide in between the tag tire and the jack stand there um actually kind of beneficial that my exhaust is not in the way right now because it gives me some more room to move around there too so i was under there for about 25 minutes and i found it i freaking found it and it all makes sense i know you're wondering why didn't we see you find it well i forgot the gopro out here and it was so contorted wrapped up under there that it was like i was like on the trail and i didn't [ __ ] me out to go get the camera because i was literally like holding myself up with my drive with my one arm or the drive shaft like twisted between this thing and everything with this light and it ended up being um right on the back side of here there's a tank that's like built into the frame and it has a fitting in it and it's a push lock fitting that's leaking so everything i've read on the forums about guys saying freaking screw push lock fittings manufacturers use them because they're cheaper every time i get one of those it's always that thing that leaks and i replace it with a compression fitting so that's what i'm going to do i have probably have dirt all over my face i'm not even totally aware of how dirty i might be um but i'm not trying i'm not trying to i'm trying not to touch my face but i'm pumped that's huge like huge victory huge that's the hardest part with with the these things and you know my escalade any like high highly technical kind of race car or something like this anything with lots of systems you get a problem that's just plaguing you and you don't know what it is that's the worst part the worst part is just trying to figure out what the heck the problem is because once you know what it is you can fix it because there's so much information on out there on basically anything that there's a path to resolution once you know what you're dealing with that right there was the hardest part i'll show you guys what i'm talking about now so there's numerous tanks under here like the one that's leaking is the one back there that you can't even really see that fitting right there that's the one that's leaking but we got a tank here that's a tank too it looks like a piece of the frame but it's actually a tank and there's another one back there too so there's a lot of stuff going on under here as you can see i got it um grabbed it's on jack stands at a nice thick point of the frame on both sides this is just a serious beef under here see that's what i'm talking about i didn't want to get under that because that's instant squish at least if it for some reason started to go down on me here i could like move and that's um my airbags definitely need to be replaced uh they they look honestly horrible and that's not even a bad one the front one's scary like i don't even want to go anywhere until i fix that and honestly i probably won't i might drive over to someone's pit if they have a pit that i could use but like locally but i'm not going any long trips with those hell no there's not a lot of room for a large guy like me under here right now what i need to do is get some like big pieces of wood like big like flat not tall just a couple more inches for those so that when i air this up i can get the jack stands up a second peg i still hear air pressure coming out of that fitting even though i dump the supply on the inside because my air seat is like disconnected for some reason when i was looking at it i found the line coming out of the floor just has like a t-valve on it so there must be something wrong with the air seat or the whoever had this before wouldn't have disconnected it so i just use that t-valve to dub the supply but there's still pressure back there so i'm going to go inside and manually dump as if i were going to lower the rear maybe i'll do the front too just because like i don't it's on jack's stance it's not going to go anywhere but i don't want to pull that off and hear it like creaking or anything because um you know my laugh my my life will flash before my eyes and i'm not trying to be a parking lot stain so i'm trying to go about this as carefully as i can i can hear it releasing i totally dumped everything even the front just because i don't want to even find out if that matters if it's stumped or not and it's reading nothing psi back here so we should be okay to pull that line off now so i got the line pulled out it's definitely got no air left in it and i'm going to now figure out pull that fitting out and see if i can still film it for you guys [Music] i got it of our problems right here this stupid mofo now you can watch me squirm on out of here again oh my god do i have any boogers in my nose this is where it gets tricky because i oh hand goes first when i lowered the front it lowered all this too which puts the nasty diesel tank closer to my face no no don't touch me no i'm shimmying out with my heels okay we did it so i'm gonna get myself mildly cleaned up fire up old elvis get one of them fittings come back throw it in and we will see if we fixed it i just went to get the fitting and they didn't have the true compression style fitting there i don't know where else i can get them for sure yet but they did have the brass style push lock fitting which i think is better than the nylon one so that's what i got and it's also not uh not as old as the original one so i think we should be all right and somebody brought it to my attention on instagram that how that wire loom back there was kind of melting from the compressor hose laying on it um you'll see that in my previous video if you haven't seen that yet go watch it they said that it's it's stainless braided main air hose line and said that it's super hot because the compressor is working over time to try to keep up with that leak where it shouldn't be running as much as it is generating that much heat which makes a lot of sense because that compressor looks like it gets really hot like the paint is almost kind of like burned off of it and i don't know like if that's normal or if it's just hot hot or like if i should think about replacing that thing too because uh yeah well that's the bridges across later but for right now i'm gonna hop on in there and get to it all right boys we're going in oh i can't remember how i did this i think i went in head first that's what she said okay we made it we're back my butt is incredibly itchy right now and i can't reach it oh man this is the worst thing ever okay we got that under control now [Music] so now that it's built pressure i'm gonna go in there lift the front all the way back up like full out lift mode and then uh kill it we'll see if that fitting is still making noise i'm back to being a coal miner by the way i look like a coal miner after freaking sticking my arm all up in there i grease my armpit i've never had grease in my armpit before my hair probably looks stupid because i took coal miner light off but it is off and i don't hear anything yet maybe just a faint sound but it could be coming from somewhere else i think we really did it remember how i said that thing about the elephant well we definitely got part of the elephant fixing that one but i totally did not see there's another one on the other side and now i can hear that one's leaking too not as bad as the other side was but it's the same thing i need to go back and get another fitting goal oh well progress this is all progress i actually thought i might be able to pill for a fitting off of the escalade um because it does use those push lock lines too but none of the ones i have are the same uh configuration like in and out size wise as the newell uses so i can't do that but the thought counts i was about to steal parts from my race car i'm just gonna do that other one tomorrow i may even go try a little bit harder and try to find two compression fittings so that those will be done for good but yeah if i'm in there got the tools out i might as well swap the other one back to compression fading this will be pain in the butt to find i'll go back to the same truck stop i went to last time you get the same uh brass push lock but man and actually when i was in like playing with it i made it worse so that was fitting it's just garbage like i tried to like push it in to see if i could get it to stop and just it just got louder so it'd be like that sometimes uh really i wasn't even gonna do any of that today i was gonna see if i could find where the leak was and then change that canister but you know i got i got in the rabbit hole got all excited and made some big progress so today is a bigger win than i woke up anticipating and i'm not complaining about that kind of stinks that there's a second one too but at the same time knocking out the first one made the second one show its head so those are all contributing to the larger picture of this problem if i knock out that one then i can find the next biggest one and you know down the line until it's freaking meant that's kind of the plan hope you found this interesting let me know let me know if you have any thoughts comments questions concerns whatever if you think my hair looks stupid make sure you tell me about it because i don't already know that hit that subscribe button and we'll see you in the next video when i've inevitably doing something very similar to this hopefully with a little bit more ground clearance though so we'll see you over there
