What happens here
This project details the multi-day process of diagnosing and repairing air leaks in an RV's air suspension system. The main challenges involve working in extremely cramped spaces, identifying multiple leaking fittings, and preventing future chafing on air lines. The video showcases several repair attempts, replacing various fittings and adding protective layers, highlighting the persistent nature of such issues in older vehicles.

(9,889 characters)day three the air leak saga i think today is going to be a good day more so than the last two if that's even possible because i got some compression fittings a good kind so i can fix the one that i know is leaking now that i didn't see last time and i can go back and do a compression fitting on the one that i did yesterday with the push lock and i will have three spares and some line in case i have to uh to like trim the old piece off and get it in there the one line is kind of pretty short from where it connects to its next connection so i'm not sure if there's enough slack in there to pull it out if it is if that's the case then i have more to replace it with uh i'm not gonna lie i'm not super enthused about you know dirty and doing this stuff today because i have not been feeling that great but it needs to be done so i'm going to do it that's what winners do yep i already got the air dumped it's ready to go i just have to get under there and do it i'm back under here now before i get started on anything i noticed that these lines here these foam covers are kind of chafing on that piece of frame rail so i'm going to fix that before they uh they rub through and start leaking i'm not even sure exactly what they are but um playing the preventative maintenance game my plan for that is i'm just going to take a uh i got a piece of heater hose split it down the middle and i'm going to lay it over that um top of that angle angle iron there to protect all of those from chafing with one single piece instead of going through and re-wrapping all of the lines okay now i can go in and do what i came here for checking in i just did the passenger side crappy fitting and yeah i really underestimated how long it would take to put that in because i forgot that once the once the line is in there i can't use the ratcheting end of the wrench anymore for the compression size you gotta you know crank it a good bit to like do the compressioning part of it so the whole time doing that i'm basically like sort of holding myself up with an arm but i'm still like wherever you got to do a freaking two minute plank in gym class is basically like that to hold myself up man because it's like it's way up there like i'm on the ground this thing has to be up just for me to get under it but man like if there's pros and cons to being six foot five one con i'd have more room under here if i wasn't pro my arms are long enough to reach that without totally killing myself but at the same time if somebody under here were like five foot six they could probably sit up right under here and not have to do a whole freaking core workout to get it done but i'm not complaining i did legs today at the gym so i guess today is a leg and core day i'm gonna get the other side line popped out unscrew that fitting put the compression one in and then we can go test this thing well i made it out got both of those fittings in there as if my freaking stomach wasn't already upside down having to do a prone half sit-up for 10 minutes so i'm just i'm whacked i can't i can't wait to be done with this i wore gloves today because it took me forever to clean my hands yesterday but the thumb ripped off so that this my entire hand would have looked like this had it not been for the glove but it's still all over my arms and i wore certain sleeves today to keep the crud out of my armpits and off my back so that did help but i'm i'm really hoping that this did it at least for the other major league of the two i'm sure there's going to be another one that becomes apparent after this but those two were so intense that my compressor is probably basically running all the time to keep up with them like you could feel it go down if you were laying on the ground next to it you could feel it go down like in the video where i did the straight pipe if you have if you haven't seen that you should go watch it i did two videos building that um i never actually got under it i just kind of laid next to it and i had to like go in there turn it on high idle for a couple minutes to get the pick back up and then work for a little bit and like i could feel it coming down when i was laying next to it it was that bad of a leak if it holds air for even a sort of a long time compared to what it should for being 25 years old i'll be thrilled just thrilled and it's totally gonna change the way this thing drives too like being able to keep constant pressure in those bags make it handle better it won't pull to the right anymore because it won't be sagging like it's it's going to fix a whole mess of problems so let's go in there fire it up let it build some pressure be very careful not to touch anything or bump into anything it's all white and i'm covered in crap right now i wait for these lights to cycle just because it makes me feel good i don't know if you actually have to or not that's on uh low air huh you don't say hey [Music] i don't know if you know but this is not like the face of a man who fixed anything this looks like the face of a man who made things worse on the fitting that i fixed yesterday that was fine it was fine it was fine i put the compression one on there and now the fitting behind that leaks the brass one that goes like it goes like tank weird adapter compression fitting the weird adapter is leaking and i think i probably cracked it when i was tightening the other one i have a tendency to over tighten things sometimes because i forget that my tightening strength is far beyond the average person that things were designed to be put on by and i break things sometimes but like dang it was fine and i screwed it up if you built the dang tank why don't you just put the bung in it for the right size thing why do you need an adapter like i don't get it why is that like that whatever let's repeat the process of dump everything take that out go to the store get another one or get freaking 16 or just buy the whole dang store so i don't have to keep going there the most random stuff just like i really really really want to just say screw it do it tomorrow because i need groceries but i am not a loser this is going on for three days now i need to get it done so i'm going to get it done i don't know if you can see that but i can see it and it's cracked it is cracked as crack can be and i did that because i'm a gorilla and i'm freaking dumb you picked it up and brought daylight and you quacked it if anybody knows that's a joke from uh leave a comment because that movie is hilarious oh my gosh i'm looked but i'm not going to quit because i'm so freaking close i'm gonna go back to that stupid truck stop and get the thing that i need to get this done so i went out to the truck stop again i got another one of those fittings i put that in there replace the crack one and i'm about to do this again where i get out fired up let it air up come back here and get my heart destroyed i'm just kidding this time this is it this is the time where we did it right i still hear air coming out i don't know where it is i'm about to just be like you know what it's fine it's better than it was when i started whatever i'll fix it later fix it after race week i don't know but i really gotta get going on escalade stuff because rocky mountain race week two is uh tech day sunday in tulsa so i gotta be there like saturday i have to change tires on the escalade i gotta do i gotta clean it out get my valve stems changed um a bunch of other stuff check it over make sure it's all good to go um cooper buggetti is actually gonna be my co-pilot you know like cletus's camera guy cooper that cooper uh yeah he'll be rolling with me and we'll be going around with um garrett cletus i call him like no miss garrett uh him and brent from pfi in the dale truck so that's gonna be a good time uh i was hoping i could take the newell with me and then just like leave it at newell while i was gone because it's only an hour from tulsa then do more stuff at the noodle factory but it's looking like old big al here it's going to give me some problems and i don't really want to drive on those airbags anyway so i'm going to enter there real quick and see if i can figure out what the heck is going on okay so it's the passenger side tag axle airbag that's making the noise i did my job the leak i was trying to solve today got solved and like i said before we have not found another one those bags need to be changed anyway that's no big deal i'm prepared for that i'm just glad i did what i set out to do and i can put a stamp on today as a win with that being said if you think this stuff is interesting make sure you hit that subscribe button and you click the little bell thingy too so it tells you when i upload stuff because a lot of times if you hit the subscribe button it won't actually tell you when someone posts something so it's really important to you this should be you hit the bell too i don't really know anybody out there who's doing the same kind of stuff i am with like a newell i know i mean there's probably lots of people there messing with like regular regular rvs and i got no problem saying that because a newel is not a regular rv and if you know what they are you know that's true but i'm gonna air the other side of this thing up some more to get that last jackson's out of there put this thing back flat so i can sleep like a normal person and get geared up to get the escalade ready for race week so stay tuned for that it's gonna be a good one if this is the first video you've seen of this shenanigans i have two before this going through this whole process step by step also so it's kind of broken up into three parts so go check those out i also got videos making the straight pipe on this thing you know the first time i drove it back from buying it like go go back on my channel there's all kinds of stuff about this and various other newels too
