Never seen irrigation like this? Pumping from the pond...setup start to finish!

What happens here

Connect the firehose to the pump's outlet. Use a wrench to ensure the connection is tight and leak-free. For the pump's inlet, connect a 2-inch PVC threaded fitting directly to the pump. This PVC pipe will extend into the pond. Attach a filter basket to the end of the PVC pipe using hose clamps. This will prevent debris from entering the pump. Make sure all PVC joints are thoroughly glued with PVC cement and primer to prevent air leaks, which can cause the pump to lose its prime. The PVC pipe should extend into the pond to a depth that prevents picking up surface debris or drawing in air.

Goal: Establish secure and leak-free connections for the pump's water intake and discharge.

Tools and materials

  • 2-inch PVC Pipe — Creating the pump's inlet pipe
