oh hey folks is Josh Tony rich farmer welcome to the farm vlog today we're here in the tractor shed we've got a huge deal on an awesome piece of equipment that we're going to be using on the farm and we've got to go get it that's the only hang-up we've got about a 35 minute drive to go get this piece of equipment from a local golf course so come along today we'll show you the piece of equipment we'll tell you all about it and we'll see if it works maybe I don't know we're gonna check it out and lubricate it and make sure all the parts are working before we get it fired up and tear it up accidentally so come along today we'll go have some fun here on the farm picking up a new piece of equipment first we got to unhook that manure spreader so folks what we're going off farm for is a grass cedar we're going over to a local golf course where we've got an awesome deal one hundred and fifty bucks on a old-school 1990s Jacob's grass cedar it's a turf cedar and we're going to use it for fixing bare spots and our pastures in our fields and also planting food plots on the farm so it's gonna be pretty cool we're gonna run off the farm we're gonna go grab that thing and then I'll take you around it and show you what it's all about and I guess we'll see if it works it's a little bit muddy to try and use it on the farm today but if we can find a dry spot we'll get it dig in the ground see what happens next time you see me we should be hooked up we've got about an hour of tractor driving on the blacktop yeah it's probably a seven mile round trip and I'm just gonna take it easy take it slow and enjoy the trip it's gonna be nice back at the house and this is the piece of equipment we'll take you around it will show you it's got a few little knick-knack things that are wrong with it I've got to soak it down in PB Blaster it just needs to be soaked down and greased and oiled there's a few things that aren't working so we'll walk around it I'll show you I'll tell you what it does and man what a stress ball what a stressful trip so we've been out on the road here for an hour on this tractor and I'm probably going 2015 20 miles an hour or something like that and I've got people just boom boom just flying by me I don't understand that I just don't get it when you see a piece of farm equipment it's an unpredictable machine and God guys if there's anything you can learn from this vlog today please slow down around the farm equipment on the road it's just dangerous sometimes you never know I took it kind of easy because it's an older tractor and I don't know if some wheel might lock up or something might pull off to the left or the right be cautious when you're following tractors or farm equipment making this tractor out on the road really makes me wonder what it's like to live in a place where you have to drive 30 and 40 and 50 miles I guess like Iowa where farms are so spread apart and you've got to take your machinery out on the road stressful let's go take a look at this cedar so this is a Jacobsen 80 to 201 there's a serial number and everything and this is what we've got so it's got some bearings on it and they need a little bit of attention need some grease got some connectors here this connector was broken I got a piece of I'm gonna have to weld right here so it needs a little TLC you can see the PTO shaft is supposed to slide back and forth this way and it's just not sliding so we'll have to work on that that's what we'll be soaking down with some PB Blaster and we'll make sure all these knuckles or cv joints or u joints or whatever you want to call them make sure all those are nice and lubricated and everything looks good there I think the machine runs fine I was told basically you have a hopper right here this basically will probably hold I don't know maybe a hundred pounds of grass seeds something like that and we're planning on using it for planting our deer food plots and for this late summer basically the seed goes into the hopper this little thing rotates around turning and stares the seed and they drop into these holes now they go from those holes down into this little gear and there's a gear right there that spins and drops it into this tube this tube drops it down and you can see right down at the bottom of that red tube it drops it down there and then the disc disc the ground up so the tube falls on the ground now there's something interesting on the front of this thing so we fired up the tractor so I could show you underneath underneath here it looks like a little tiller it's kind of a little tiller underneath so that'll stir the soil up this is a roller this is a little rototiller and then that is the disc and those are the tubes that the seeds drop out pretty cool gentle so we got a little bit of a project I imagine it'll work just fine just the way it is but we want to dress it up and fix a few spots on it there's some places that need welding I'll probably take the pressure washer to it wash it off real good weld up the spots that need to be welded maybe even sling some paint on it so we'll see you guys but it's too doggone hot to do it today it's probably 93 degrees out here in North Carolina with about 110 percent humidity so maybe one day we'll have an air-conditioned shop we can pull something in there like that and tinker with it all day but not right now guys thanks a lot for coming along on the farm vlog today I appreciate it just want to show you a new cool piece of equipment and what's going on on the farm so as we're getting busy working on this thing we'll take you along and we'll show you what's going on and we'll have a little bit of fun together okay it'll be interesting to see how that thing works we only paid 150 bucks for it I googled and searched all over the internet and the cheapest one I could find was five hundred and ten dollars so awesome awesome it's a five and a half or six foot wide turf drill I guess I guess it's what you call it I don't know leave me a comment down there tell me what you think thanks a lot guys we'll see you next time be sure and pound that like button right now subscribe to the channel if you're not already subscribed and click the little bell down there and we'll notify you when I post a new video we got some projects we got to fix that soon very soon all right we'll see you next time
