What happens here
Once all pavers are laid, sweep a polymeric sand product over the entire patio surface. This sand is a mixture of fine aggregates and polymers that, when activated with water, hardens to lock the pavers in place and inhibit weed growth and insect infestation. Use a broom to work the sand into all the paver joints. After filling the joints, use a plate compactor with a protective pad (to prevent scuffing the pavers) to make several passes over the entire patio. This vibrates the sand deeper into the joints and helps seat the pavers firmly. Finally, lightly mist the patio with water to activate the polymeric sand, following the manufacturer's instructions carefully.
Goal: Fill paver joints with polymeric sand and compact the entire patio for stability and weed inhibition.
