Miter folds! A special detail we love adding on our projects, but also making it efficient!

What happens here

After routing, unscrew and remove the wood scraps that were used to secure the composite board. Gently lift the board and clean out any sawdust and debris from the newly created V-groove using a small piece of wood or a brush. Once clean, place the board back on the work surface. Take a heat gun and begin applying concentrated heat directly into the V-groove and to the surrounding areas of the composite board. Move the heat gun steadily back and forth to ensure even heating. This process will soften the material, making it pliable and ready for bending. Continue heating until the material starts to become visibly flexible.

Goal: Soften the composite material for bending

Tools and materials

  • Heat Gun Bauer — To soften the composite material for bending
  • Routed Composite Decking Board — The material being heated
  • Small Wood Scrap — To clean debris from the V-groove
