Miter folds! A special detail we love adding on our projects, but also making it efficient!

What happens here

Once the composite board is sufficiently heated and pliable, carefully lift it from the work surface. While holding one side, gently apply pressure at the V-groove to begin bending the material. Continue to bend until a crisp 90-degree angle is formed. If the material starts to cool and resist bending, briefly reapply the heat gun to the V-groove to maintain its flexibility. Hold the bent position for a few moments to allow the material to cool and set in its new shape.

Goal: Form a 90-degree corner with the heated composite board

Tools and materials

  • Carpenter's Square — To ensure a precise 90-degree angle
  • Heat Gun Bauer — To briefly reapply heat if the material cools too quickly during bending
  • Heat-Resistant Gloves — Protecting hands from hot material
  • Heated Composite Decking Board — The material being bent into a corner
