What happens here

After all pavers are laid and cut to fit, the final steps involve compacting the surface and applying joint sand. First, make sure the paver surface is clean of any debris. Then, use a plate compactor with a vibrating plate (preferably one with a protective rubber mat on the bottom to prevent scratching the pavers) to compact the entire paved area. This helps to settle the pavers into the bedding sand and lock them together. After compaction, spread polymeric sand (or regular joint sand) over the entire surface, working it into the joints using a push broom. Ensure all joints are completely filled. Finally, gently mist the surface with water according to the polymeric sand manufacturer's instructions, allowing it to cure and harden, which locks the pavers in place and helps inhibit weed growth and insect infestation.

Goal: Secure the pavers and fill the joints for a stable, finished surface.
