What happens here

When installing the last plank in a row, or needing to snug an entire row closer to a wall, precise measurement is required. First, measure the gap between the last installed plank and the wall using a tape measure. This measurement (minus the required expansion gap) determines the width the final plank needs to be cut to (though the cutting itself is not shown in this video). Once the plank is in place, insert the pull bar between the edge of the plank and the wall. Use the leverage of the pull bar, pushing firmly towards the installed floor, to close any remaining gaps between the last plank and the previous row, ensuring a completely tight and professional finish against the wall.

Goal: Achieve a flush and tightly sealed finish for planks adjacent to a wall.

Tools and materials

  • Laminate/Engineered Wood Flooring Plank — The last plank needing to be positioned against the wall
  • Pull Bar — To push the final plank tightly into the adjacent row, against the wall
  • Tape Measure — To accurately measure the gap for cutting the final plank
