What happens here

The first course of concrete retaining wall blocks is carefully placed onto the leveled paver sand base, ensuring each block is level using a small hand level. For subsequent layers, the blocks are staggered (overlapping by 50%) and construction adhesive (specifically formulated for concrete) is applied between each block and layer to ensure strong adhesion and prevent shifting. For curved sections, blocks are carefully measured, cut using a grinder (shown), and chipped with a hammer and chisel for a precise fit. This process continues until the desired height and circular shape are achieved, creating a clean, permanent border around the tree. Consideration for low-voltage up-lighting around the tree or within the wall itself could be integrated during this construction to highlight the tree or the wall texture at night.

Goal: Interlocking concrete retaining wall blocks are installed around the tree, creating a tiered, decorative barrier.

so if I was to be building a traditional retaining wall That's straight I would set up two posts ring a r run a string with a level and then establish my base and then work my way up this is a circle I don't know how to do that it's eyeballed okay but I think what I'm going to just do is walk around with a level as I'm going and uh I don't know fingers crossed we uh we just eyeball it so I made my micro adjustments overall everything looks pretty plain or onlain for me if you saw on the first layer I chipped off this back ledge here the idea here is you create your trench and the bearing starts getting pushed out so this trench is basically holding the first layer back everything after that the lip stays on and the lip goes right behind the base or the previous level again now it's pushing not only the top but also the bottom to stay together creating a retention or retaining wall what we're also going to do when we set them by the way we're going to stagger them just like that is we're going to use I don't know where I put it my uh heavyduty construction adhesive specifically meant for concrete put dabs down that way the stuff doesn't just get kicked off The Rocks when kids are pushing it or whatnot it actually has a good solid base let's get to work [Music] we got a big problem here so the pattern here is overlapping them by 50% right two two stones one down the middle perfect in front right but then look what happens as you start veering off around the corner that spacing starts becoming smaller and smaller to me it tells me that the circular form is either not perfectly circular or the way it kind of recesses in right so you're We Got A Wider Circle at the bottom the next one goes in about an inch and a half uh I don't know what to do about that not to mention we're left with like a quarter of a Stone Gap here so I'm going to focus on making sure where the eyeballs get hit from there from there and from there this is the backside for whatever uh cut my little piece here so all my imperfections or the the veering off is just going to be in the section over here and uh if you guys have any advice and you've done this before and you've run into this problem before please comment down below both for my knowledge and for anybody else going to tackle [Music] this that was pretty slick you got to admit [Music]
