What happens here

This video details a comprehensive backyard landscape transformation project, focusing on ground preparation, plant installation, and the construction of decorative elements. While the project aims to enhance outdoor aesthetic appeal for nighttime landscapes, the video does not explicitly show the placement or installation of low-voltage landscape lighting. Instead, it covers the foundational hardscaping and softscaping aspects that would typically precede or integrate with a lighting design.

[Music] all right guys welcome back to our Channel big day big things are happening we're finally transforming the backyard doing crazy amount of landscaping and uh your boy's done going to break his Budget on this one for sure I'm working on creating a little barrier perimeter around kind of this oval uh it's going to have all our plants in the middle of it we're going to have beautiful decorative rock we're going to have a beautiful stone wraparound for this monstrosity of a tree so we have all of this kind of continue I got another little section to finish off here once that's done we'll start working on the weed barrier because this sucker grows hard and fast so we're going to stop that it's hilarious finding stuff underneath what was before previous kind of landscaping stuff so this is probably let's see three here four five six I think I found seven now these are now seven walkway papers that we found and I'm actually glad that we found extras because I think we can actually incorporate it into some of this Landscaping that we're thinking about doing we got a nice perimeter laid out here relatively flat we're going to put edging completely around it to separate this chaos from the nice stuff that we're making here so we're going to create a nice oval radius kind of going around crisp line around so the edging can have a better seating and then we'll bring that sucker in and put stakes in it [Music] [Applause] [Music] that's the part they never tell you about how complicated it could be to actually make a radius with flexible material it's kind of hard but what I found that works here best here is to put a steak like maybe every 10 ft get a rough area and then walk around and create like a tot section so right here is a great example about 10 ft so then you just kind of move it out now we're going to have to move this steak out a little bit so you'll have you basically do a whole lot of adjusting before you get it just right and then when it's just right you redo it again all right this is about the best I can get it done so up next we going to take a trip to the nursery to pick out all of our plants cuz those holes need to be dug before our weed barrier goes down we don't want to start getting everything messy here so Quick Trip come [Music] along I feel more confident picking out rugs and interior design stuff than picking out what kind of landscaping bushes and shrubs and everything else I go most intimidating cres I've ever gone through all right let's bring it back to the [Music] house $11,000 later maybe even like 1100 we got plants that's a lot of money for plants uh now we're going to have to start rearranging them in whichever fashion I have zero clue I I have better chances decorating a room than I have playing with these plants so we'll just start throwing them around uh and then move them and then throw them around more and then move them and then hopefully we'll find a happy medium guys I'm going to tell you the secret sauce to me being able to run at such a high level high capacity tackling all this projects cuz I know you guys are always like this guy must be on something cuz he is talking way too fast he's doing way too much and it's true and the only way I can do that is by taking care of my body I work out every single day I do cold plunges every single day for both physical and mental health but also I started meditating and recently I started using therapy and that's where I'm very excited to share the sponsors of today's video that we partnered with many of times before better help starting therapy can be very hard to be honest with you I remember reaching out to my friend to see who she uses for her therapist and she's like I'd love to recommend you but they're not taking new and that could be very hard to take the next step and at the same time finding a local therapist in your area is extremely difficult not to mention a guy like myself I don't like these face-to-face conversations so that could be a little uncomfortable better help connects you with a licensed therapist who is trained to listen and give unbiased advice and with better help you can have your sessions either video chat phone call text messaging whatever is most comfortable for you that's where better help comes in better help can match you with one of 30,000 therapists in the Network which gives you access to a wide range of expertise that may be available in your area to get started you fill out a questionnaire to help assess your specific needs and then you get match with a therapist in most cases within 48 hours or less you'll be able to schedule a therapy session at any time that's convenient for you and if the therapist you've matched with doesn't feel like a right fit which can be common when starting therapy you can switch to a new therapist at no additional cost without stressing about insurance or who's in your network or anything like that look many people just like myself spend countless amount of hours every every week at the gym to try to take care of their body with the hopes that can help their mind so why not give your mind the same level of attention over 4 million people have started using better help to live a happier healthier life and the great thing about it is you can too so if you think that you might benefit from better help head to betterhelp.com slmb buildid or simply just click the link in description below clicking that link not only helps support this channel but you will also receive 10% off your first month of better help so you can start connecting with a therapist and see if you might benefit from thank you better hope for helps Bo this channel supporting me and my [Music] brain so things to consider when setting up these plants uh I think symmetrically I got them all established pretty well and they're kind of staggered so it's not too on the nose but also to consider is how much the spread is so uh these are boxwood greens they say that their height is at maturity 3 to 5 ft and they spread 2 to 3 ft so I got one two three like almost 4T to the next one uh these ones which are uh Barberry golden Divine they spread to about 12 to 18 in and only go about a foot high uh off the ground so these are safe uh overall I feel good about this got a nice big luscious Evergreen that we'll put right over here so it'll be a nice little I don't know it's kind of be cool to see that out of the dining room window I'm really excited about that feel good about this feel good about everything we're going to go get our augur out dig it out to about how deep they are in the plants these ladies they were so nice they gave me instructions so I don't screw myself over on this we'll uh dig the holes out clean up all the soil and then we'll bring our weed barrier [Music] I don't want to do landscaping I just added that to my list Roofing siding flooring full anything fulltime I don't want to do it I'd rather do landscaping like every once in a while this is [Music] hard this sucker might not look like it but it's stinking heavy and very awkward to grab okay burlap I need to take the burlap off seeing three different cords three different ropes watch is my luck that the hole's not dig not deep enough what' I tell you not wi enough [Music] here's a trick that I saw actually on Facebook of landscapers cutting out these holes uh a lot quicker so once you find it you basically melted away [Music] according to instructions all we got to do now is uh take the plants out of the pots fill water there's already loose soil at the bottom they said I didn't need to put any potting soil which is helpful drench that with water put the plant in water on top and then uh they said for the first two weeks you really got to stay on the watering every other day uh until they take root these are evergreens essentially so they're low water so not a lot of mains required which is good for us [Music] so this is what 9 to 10 yards of uh black and gray Beauty Rock looks like this sets you back about 900 bucks no 800 bucks with delivery I think it's like 150 or 120 for delivery hopefully we'll have enough cuz there's a lot that needs to go up front a lot needs to go the back and just uh anywhere we can find it lot of Scoops sure glad I got a skid here cuz I can't imagine do this with the wheelbarrow let's get to work back breaking work folks no easy days even when you got a skid loader all right you know The Skit Steer made it uh kind of light work but I'm still throwing the shovel around so I'm definitely burning my calories for the day but this backyard is looking so much better it's incredible now we got another big thing that we got to do to really spice this thing up check this out so we excavated all the excess stuff from the ground grass area and we just kind of made this pile here if we put down weed barrier we don't have to worry about any of the weeds coming through so that's a plus what I want to do is create a beautiful decorative like retaining wall it's not going to be retaining much but it we'll just call it a retaining wall because those are retaining wall bricks that we're using first order of business we got to make sure it's semile level uh traditionally you want to dig past the dirt about 4 to 6 in and then you know build it up so because there's roots coming here we can't really do that but we're going to do our best for sure [Music] okay this is about as close as I can get it to I got a nice wide stance here using that shovel the next thing we can do is lay down some pav sand and what that going to do is going to let us have the best opportunity to have a continual surface area to follow that's plain at least it's a theory that I have in my head everything always goes wrong we'll just start with the lowest or the high spot and then work our way to the lowest spot and hopefully we can keep this thing at least eye level [Music] straight let's give it a quick taparoo so we have an even surface area and then we'll start grabbing our brick [Music] so what we got here is 145 pieces of retaining wall brick I got it at Home Depot I ordered online it was just ready in I mean maybe like an hour for me to ready pick up so uh a pallet like this is about 3600 lb 149 pieces $2.80 a piece I think is roughly $325 I SP on it hopefully I overdid it and if you want to know how to calculate it when you go on the Home Depot's website and you go to the pap thing the brick I check out it'll actually tell you how tall do you want your wall and how long do you want your wall so I just kind of estimated the perimeter length and said I want to be 12 in tall and they go you need roughly 140 something brick so easy peasy lemon squeezy let's load it them up on the sker we'll take it over so if I was to be building a traditional retaining wall That's straight I would set up two posts ring a r run a string with a level and then establish my base and then work my way up this is a circle I don't know how to do that it's eyeballed okay but I think what I'm going to just do is walk around with a level as I'm going and uh I don't know fingers crossed we uh we just eyeball it so I made my micro adjustments overall everything looks pretty plain or onlain for me if you saw on the first layer I chipped off this back ledge here the idea here is you create your trench and the bearing starts getting pushed out so this trench is basically holding the first layer back everything after that the lip stays on and the lip goes right behind the base or the previous level again now it's pushing not only the top but also the bottom to stay together creating a retention or retaining wall what we're also going to do when we set them by the way we're going to stagger them just like that is we're going to use I don't know where I put it my uh heavyduty construction adhesive specifically meant for concrete put dabs down that way the stuff doesn't just get kicked off The Rocks when kids are pushing it or whatnot it actually has a good solid base let's get to work [Music] we got a big problem here so the pattern here is overlapping them by 50% right two two stones one down the middle perfect in front right but then look what happens as you start veering off around the corner that spacing starts becoming smaller and smaller to me it tells me that the circular form is either not perfectly circular or the way it kind of recesses in right so you're We Got A Wider Circle at the bottom the next one goes in about an inch and a half uh I don't know what to do about that not to mention we're left with like a quarter of a Stone Gap here so I'm going to focus on making sure where the eyeballs get hit from there from there and from there this is the backside for whatever uh cut my little piece here so all my imperfections or the the veering off is just going to be in the section over here and uh if you guys have any advice and you've done this before and you've run into this problem before please comment down below both for my knowledge and for anybody else going to tackle [Music] this that was pretty slick you got to admit [Music] love it I think it was a great call it's an awesome statement piece and this thing just looks giant now second of all if you're building an actual functioning retaining wall like a retaining wall for something backdrop like that this is the part that you start filling this section up with gravel for drainage this is only in a aesthetic uh retraining wall so it's very fake it's not holding anything up it's just a basically a nice big ring I'm not going to need to do that so now I'm just going to spread all my dirt here put my weed barrier down and then fill this thing up with a beautiful beautiful bark [Music] S I don't know [Music] guys things turned out incredible on this project now in case you were wondering what this budget cost it was about $800 for this beauty Rock we're looking at uh 122 to $1,300 for all the greenery that you saw it here and on top of it we're looking at another $300 for all the stone here and probably maybe another $200 for all the uh weed barrier stuff that we use on this project and the edging so all in all about 2500 bucks plus uh not minus definitely plus a 100 bucks more or so but all in all sub $33,000 I could only imagine that this would be at least a $10,000 job if hired professionally and uh we saved a few buckaroos thanks so much for watching make sure you tune in next week we got an Incredible video coming up in the meantime here's a video I think you might enjoy
