Leaking Toilet Base? Don’t Ignore This! #diy #plumbing #plumber #toilet

What happens here

With the toilet drained, disconnect the flexible water supply line from the fill valve at the base of the toilet tank by turning the connector counter-clockwise. You may need tongue-and-groove pliers (channel locks) for this. Next, remove the decorative caps covering the toilet base bolts. Use pliers or a wrench to unfasten the nuts holding the toilet to the floor flange by turning them counter-clockwise. Once the nuts are removed, carefully lift the toilet straight up and off the flange. Place the toilet aside on a protected surface, such as a drop cloth or cardboard, to avoid damaging the floor or the toilet itself.

Goal: Safely disconnect and remove the toilet from its base.
