Last Day: Emergency Foundation repair. First Day: Franky's new site

What happens here

The narrator takes a break from the day's operational tasks to discuss an upcoming project bid for a large retaining wall. He explains the client's initial engineering plan, which involves a 15-foot tall wall made of ReCon blocks, holding up back deck footings in a swampy area, estimated at over $250,000. He then proposes an alternative plan that would eliminate retaining walls entirely, costing around $60,000. The narrator emphasizes the importance of offering clients multiple solutions and the process of getting engineering plans approved for his alternative approach.

Goal: Evaluate and bid on a large retaining wall project, offering a cost-effective alternative solution.

Tools and materials

  • Engineering Plans — Designing the retaining wall project
  • ReCon Blocks ReCon — Constructing the client's proposed retaining wall
  • Structural Fill Soil N/A — Rebuilding the area after deck removal (part of alternative plan)

What they say

Hide

the swamp holding up all of those back deck footings but it gets better they want us to somehow made magically make those decks float in midair while we dig straight underneath them and then rebuild the entire area using structural fill soil as I look at the site it starts to become clear to me what I think has happened here the homeowners association has hired an engineering firm to draft up a plan for new retaining walls they didn't ask them for a solution to what was going on behind these houses they just asked for a plan for new retaining walls and that's what was given to them now in a project like this I'm gonna probably end up giving the customer two separate price quotes one is gonna be for the work that the way they want it done per their engineering plan but I don't really want to do the job the way they the engineers have it lined I don't know if it's even feasible to do it so I'm gonna end up jacking my price up really high to do a project like this I may be north the 250 plus thousand dollars on a job like this but I'm gonna come up with a second plan for them and that's going to eliminate all of the retaining walls period but I'm also going to be able to do it at a fraction of the cost of their engineer plan so we're going to have two proposals one coming in north the $250,000 and then back up Plan B that I create myself which should come in south of $60,000 if they do they if they opt to go with my plan I'll have an engineer come in draft it up put it together and hopefully we'll be off to the races but I don't know what'll happen with that job at this point it's just a bid and that's our day for today hope you enjoyed the video god bless go get'em you guys and maybe we'll see you tomorrow where we got more work to do and the next day the next day I don't know if I'll make that many videos
