more time let's get back into this video let's go hey welcome back to episode nine nine i can't believe we've already made it this far to the concrete slab house kitchen makeover so today we're handling the countertops and the backsplash now this is a little bit outside of my wheelhouse so i'm gonna get some help over here to get it done the right way but first we gotta do some measurement let's go [Music] what it does is it snaps three lines and it tells you the elevation of the actual uh he said tomorrow they're gonna start cutting and the cool thing is we're gonna be able to go to the shop and see how it's all done maybe even help out a little bit i'll see you guys in the morning all right so uh we're doing a little field trip today we are here over at advantage granite and stones fun fact this is my father-in-law's company so you know i'm married well married somebody who has a granite company that we can do our course countertops here so we're going to get to learn how to do it and get our hands dirty and put us to work for the stone that we're using the funny thing is irene is very indecisive but she's super decisive when it comes to picking out stone apparently she says she picked out the stuff really fast this is not the exact product that she used but it's similar i don't know where the remnant piece here is but it's called liberta it's got the same white marbling kind of look with some gray patterns in there anyway it's set up on the big bridgestone machine let's go check it out and see how the stuff is done all right so we got four slabs here i think we're only gonna need three uh nice little patterns kind of like marble kind of look without being as brittle you know as marble that's a chips and it chips heavy uh let's go see what we've got here the machine will pivot the side each direction [Music] so this is the suction device that they would use to pick up these giant slabs that range between 600 and a thousand pounds they'll just press this against it'll activate the suctioning here and they'll use this hoist over to bring it on the table and set it how they need it so there's no heavy lifting oh another thing check this out this is the sink that we picked out this is the farmhouse apron sink we got it i think i like a home depot or a lowe's or something like that i think it was like around 400 bucks it's nice it's clean so why are you heating that up so it expands and can come off it's that tight on there you got a lock tight in there oh so i'm pretty much melting the lock and that's it planning out what it's going to be doing huh [Music] so that's cutting the radiuses huh how much is one of those blades i just ordered two brand new ones they're 450 of these we're going to steal something at granite shops feel it blade [Music] all right so we're going to do a little bit of polishing ourselves here we got p1 p2 and p3 they're saying that's the order that we got to go in this is a wet polisher clearly i've used this a ton so we're going to see if we're going to screw up our own countertop wish me luck i don't know if they know what i'm doing but they left me unattended so i guess i'm making my own countertops that's how they make it cheaper do it yourself all right p1 is done let's do p2 that is glass smooth that is incredible are you guys hiring i might shut this whole youtube channel thing down and just duke out and tap and it's got to be noted you guys are like recycling all of your water here so it drains down into this pit and then gets pumped back into the thing so you can recut it again [Music] this thing is kind of has its own brain so once you program it when it comes back he's the machine's just waiting on him to change the blade for the next spot so like after this was done it came back to its statings point that's indicating to him let's put a new blade on he's going to press start and it's going to finish off the rest of the job so it's kind of nice how it kind of thinks for itself it's all cut up it's incredible see this thing's done in what 45 minutes so we have our mitered edges for the waterfall on the sides we have apron sink we got even our holes cut out here's this uh faucet here is the soap and that is the air switch for the disposal it's ten feet wide four feet deep and uh we're installing tomorrow so the guys are gonna finish off polishing this up install is in the morning and i'll see you guys then let's go all right install dig countertops are here let's go to work pump it there you go that creates come on guys pull me in coach i'm ready it hooks up to that little winch right there you release this button and the clamps go down and basically this rubber part really holding it together [Music] that's a razor blade on my chest [Music] here oh come on well that's the way she wanted she wanted a crooked sink are you one of those guys with straight sinks [Music] that's not our that'll turn out a countertop or at the waterfall edge that's that's a different color that's not the right color purple granite what is this is my stuff here oh okay the waterfall's here all right chasing waterfalls good song i'm basically a certified installer now so i think i know exactly how to do this so you said the next job we're doing in cuna is that where we're going after this i have to get paid in cash that's my only keep this one off the books got the mars rover here [Music] oh [Music] get her over is this like a trust fall okay they got it to match the pattern coming down that looks like you did a good job with this matching [Music] that's awesome it's moments like this you start appreciating the fact that you did your job right like i was able to build the cabinets and the pony wall and these blocks all knowing that when he does his job right everything comes out together like if i screwed up my part there's no way we get a nice clean waterfall so game respects game oh it'll do [Music] so what is this this is the epoxy itself how much well how much more than that really i'm not gonna say what it looks like but i think we all know what this looks like colors is there like sentimental value to this box it's a cardboard box can i get you a bigger new box this is like a historical artifact now [Music] [Applause] that's just black and you're just matching what we're seeing on this countertop boom and boom too much huh i can wipe it off here i got it okay what that even get on the stick oh that's a lot is this hardener yeah don't put that in here oh so nervous is that good is that too much that's too much i need more sticks can you give me more sticks oh another stick you just yelled at me for having too many sticks you need a little more gray yeah i'm surprised he's trusting me with this i wouldn't trust me like if i came to somebody's house hey can i put the glue and i'll be like no you're not putting the glue on guy i'm responsible for this okay i'm trying to lower this bill as much as i can so do you get these stuck first and then you put the adhesive in there [Music] [Applause] you need you need the like you would need dough you're needing your epoxy here you know they don't this is a technique that's not readily taught in school it's very much of an eastern technique that a lot of people don't understand a lot of it comes from the wrist you circle it in you take it around you'll go around the village you go around the village you come back in town then you go around the village of backing town there's a lot that's happening right now on a chemical level that i couldn't explain to you but it's it's a it's it's a lost and forgotten technique [Music] you can't come up that with a tape measure you can't cut that by hand like that [Music] so what he's doing now is taking 100 silicone and just running lines on the back of this drywall so we can just kind of set this on it's not going to go anywhere um not to mention i don't think these cabinets will let it go anywhere [Music] so hey guys check out how awesome this countertop turned out it's four feet wide 10 feet long it's got the built-in cabinet carcass here the best part is this waterfall edge like they got everything matched up to this seam so flawlessly the backsplash is crazy cool i cannot believe that this is in my kitchen right [Music] now [Music] hey that is it for me this week thank you so much for sticking around
