What happens here

The video shows lights installed underneath the granite overhang, designed to cast light downwards onto the vertical walls of the bar structure. For this application, waterproof LED strip lights are an excellent choice. Begin by measuring the exact lengths of the overhangs where lighting is desired. Cut the LED strip lights to the appropriate lengths, making sure to only cut at the designated marks on the strip. Thoroughly clean the underside of the granite overhang to ensure optimal adhesion for the LED strips. Apply the self-adhesive backing of the LED strips firmly to the cleaned surface. If necessary, secure the strips further with small mounting clips and screws for added durability. Carefully route the low-voltage wiring discreetly along the underside of the overhang and through any necessary drilled holes to connect to the main power supply.

Goal: Create a downward-casting ambient light effect along the bar walls.

Tools and materials

  • Cleaning Cloth — Wiping down the underside of the overhang
  • Drill — Drilling pilot holes for mounting clips and routing wires
  • Low-Voltage Wiring — Connecting LED strips to the power supply, must be outdoor rated
  • Measuring Tape — Measuring the length of the overhangs for LED strips
  • Mounting Clips and Screws — Securing LED strips more firmly
  • Outdoor-Rated Wire Connectors — Making waterproof and secure electrical connections
  • Screwdriver — Securing mounting clips
  • Silicone Sealant — Sealing drilled holes and gaps to prevent water intrusion
  • Utility Knife — Cutting LED strip lights at designated marks
  • Waterproof LED Strip Lights — Providing downward-casting light under the overhang
  • Rubbing Alcohol — Cleaning the surface for LED strip adhesion
