Installing Drainage Under The Patio!

What happens here

After successfully installing and testing the drainage pipes, cover the geotextile fabric and pipes with a layer of clean stone (gravel). The video shows a dump truck delivering the stone and the mini skid steer spreading it into the trench and surrounding area. Once the initial layer of stone is spread, cover it with another layer of geotextile fabric. This second layer helps prevent the final backfill soil from mixing with the clean stone, maintaining the integrity of the drainage layer. Finally, use a plate compactor to compact the stone layer, creating a stable base for the subsequent pavers or landscaping.

Goal: Create a robust and well-drained base for the patio.

Tools and materials

  • Clean Stone — Filling the trench and providing drainage
  • Geotextile Drainage Fabric — Separating the stone layer from the soil
  • Mini Skid Steer Dingo TX-1000 — Spreading gravel and preparing the base
  • Plate Compactor — Compacting the stone layer for stability
  • Rake — Leveling the stone before compacting

that's it morning everybody Nick here we have our pipes laid out for our drainage these pipes have holes in them so that they can fill with water and the water will go down on its own we have this fabric down because we don't want any dirt to get in our pipes and potentially clog them up we want nice free flowing pipes so that we don't have to dig up this beautiful Pat when it gets put down we're going to put Stone directly onto this fabric but we're going to lift our pipes up to get our pitch how we like it and F tune it so that after it's pitched the way we like we can cover with stone and then more fabric then more Stone and then we'll have a nice level surface to put our papers down on
