be changing out in a legal p-trap these things are illegal this right here this corrugated part that allows you to just bend and move and twist they're bad do not install one of these all they do is they call they clogged up with debris they actually cause stoppages much faster that is the reason why they're illegal so we're gonna change that out in order to do that we're gonna actually have to cut some ABS pipe we're gonna put in a 22 and we're gonna have to use a socket saver so come see how this little awesome thing works it's a very cool specialty plumbing tool that when you need it it comes in real handy so come along let's get to fixin [Music] okay this is the p-trap and this is what we're gonna be changing out today this actually isn't a legal peach rap because of this corrugation right here this kind of accordion effect that just brings it up to where it needs to go you can actually see if we get up closer to it you can see the discoloration and the pipe right here that actually is inside and that's build-up so once we pop that apart we'll take a look and you can actually see where debris is collecting in there this is a no-go the reason why they did this and made this this easy was because they didn't put the right fittings back here had they not put a straight fitting right here and either put a 22 degree to kind of bring this a little more over this way or a 45 you would have been able to catch this drain right here no problem so what we're gonna have to do is we're actually gonna have to cut this out you can see that they actually put Street fittings in here one after the other from a two-inch down to an inch and a half so we're gonna have to go ahead and we're actually just gonna ream this out and I'll show you a cool plumbing tool today to help you do that call the socket saver and it's just going to save us a lot more work okay so the first thing we'll do is we'll just put a bucket under here to catch some water get this trap popped off so if you look right down in there you can see those corrugations and you can see that all along those corrugations it's just kind of catching things which you do not want that once again don't use this illegal bad kind of all that moved out it's time to switch the camera position just take this right here at the edge just cut it off flush shut it off real nice so we chopped this piece off its flat I want to stick my socket saver in there and it doesn't fit because this is a reducer fitting and they're thicker so what we're gonna do there is we're just gonna ream it out a little bit to where we can get it started and then we're going to work on it so I'll just take a pencil reamer sometimes with plumbing you just gotta improvise you got to figure out a way to make things work before we get a bunch of stuff in there let's just take a rag because we're gonna stuff it with a rag anyway get that all stuffed in there nice and then we'll just keep dreaming it's like I said with plumbing it's definitely improvising from time to time it just kind of takes it and it turns it into hot plastic because it pops out of here I just like to clean it out from time to time okay just make sure that's kind of tucked back in there you don't want it to catch you can see it's coming out we're just about there and we're able to stick a piece of pipe in there and we will start running a new drain line just take the big cutter with a plastic wheel we're gonna take these two pieces of pipe we just cut we're going to attach them to this 22 on both sides we're gonna put the trap adapter on and we're also going to glue it to the fitting that we just reamed out in the wall okay so we'll put some glue it around the fitting put some glue around the inside of the pipe and then get in there give it a little turn we should be sitting pretty good we're using an inch and a quarter piece wrap instead of inch and a half it doesn't need to be that big this is just a little small lab and so we're gonna hook this up and get installed for you so we've already got this piece together so we're just gonna leave that right like that we're gonna take this knot which is an inch and a half and we're going to use this inch and a half by inch and a quarter reducer washer right here take a little bit of mega lock I like some thread sealant to go right around this is what seals it to it you could also put a little bit on there if you want you don't have to put tons you can see right down here at the bottom that that's what's not going to go in there and so we'll just chop a little bit out of that take our cutters and now we'll test it fill in the sink up I want training we're looking good here so we replace the bad accordion-style p-trap with this new really standard inch and a quarter p-trap everything looks really nice it all worked out we just had to actually cut away right here use our socket saver drill in put in a new pipe and install a 22 but overall it worked out really well not a bad job the socket savers they come in handy big-time man like it really will save you okay so that is me installing a new p-trap you can see that it really turned out nice it looks so much better it's cleaner it's nicer and we're not gonna have an issue with it for a long time I really hope this video helped if you could please subscribe to the channel click the like button it would be greatly appreciated thank you very much and have a great day
