What happens here

This video demonstrates two methods for removing a bathtub drain. The primary focus is on how to remove a broken or rusted-out drain where the standard crossbars are missing, using a specialized tub drain extractor tool and a breaker bar. A secondary method using a double-ended tub drain wrench is also shown for drains that are still intact.

Hey folks, that fix a guy here. If you're new to the channel, please click the subscribe button You can tap that bell icon and get notifications when a new video is coming out So today we're gonna be talking about removing a tub drain. I Had a friend last night call me Kind of frantic needed help removing a tub drain that had completely rusted out You know the little bar piece. So if you're looking at this this little bar piece was actually gone And he's like how do you take it out if that's gone? So I'm gonna show you what I did I'll explain to you the process and then we'll look at the tools Used to do it. So come along. Let's get the fixing When your tub drain looks like this and you actually have these bars in it You're able to use something like this double in tub drain wrench So you just be able to take this And go right down inside here And you see that that's going to Allow you to get down in there Spin it out counterclockwise And remove this from the bottom of your tub Grab a screws driver put in one of these holes and use that like that or You can grab an adjustable jaw Remember all the way to the back lock her in and give her a go Okay, so I've showed you how to use the double in tub wrench But what happens if there's no cross member in there for you to grab and turn well That's where this engine a half tub extractor comes in. That's essentially just a really big easy out You just pop that in there You see that right there you're able to put a socket in it or a breaker bar And in my case, I tend to use this breaker bar right here I've got one that's got a good bend in it with a handle You can see so you're just able to pop this on And then it brings you up from the bottom of the tub a little bit and you're able to just turn and pop that out I'll put a link for the tools that I use in the description box below and Let's check out a little video of this bad boy in action. Okay So the problem that we've ran into here is there is The drain piece is gone. You can't actually pull it out. So What we've got here is we've got A breaker bar and we've got this extractor right here and we're gonna stick this down in there and pop it out So that's it. So this just goes right down in here This goes right on there like so and then Boom just twist right on out Oh Something like that Yeah, that's already got it Okay Um So I Or I think it has Yeah, it's completely actually broken the drain pipe off of the overflow So At least we'll be able to come out now Yeah, let me just get it facing backwards Okay Okay You got it all right that's a couple different ways to take a tub drain out You're not always going to get it to where the drain arm snaps off because the brass is so old Um But anything does happen in plumbing If you can please subscribe to the channel click the like button It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much and have a great evening
