What happens here

This video demonstrates how to repair a loose and leaking plastic bathroom sink drain. The process begins by removing the pop-up assembly, which involves detaching the metal clip connecting the vertical plastic pipe. Next, the stopper and drain flange are loosened and removed from the sink drain. Teflon tape and pipe dope are applied to the threads of the pop-up assembly's tailpiece, and silicone is applied to both sides of its bottom washer. The tailpiece is then inserted into the sink drain, and the drain flange nut is tightened by hand and then with channel locks. After cleaning any excess silicone, the stopper is put back in place, the rod is reinstalled and secured with a screwdriver, and finally, the metal clip is reattached to the rod and plastic pipe.
