What happens here

For high-strain applications like corner posts, tie the hot wire to a bullnose insulator. First, create a small bend in the wire and slide it into the bullnose insulator. Then, make six tight wraps of the wire around itself to secure it to the insulator. Use a crank handle to tighten these wraps, and then use your Nipex cutters to snap off the excess wire. If the wire doesn't snap off cleanly, bend it back and forth until it breaks, leaving no sharp edges. This method creates a strong connection while allowing the insulator to pivot, reducing stress on the fence.

Goal: Securely attach hot wire to a bullnose insulator with 6 tight wraps.

Tools and materials

  • Bullnose Insulator Gallagher — Insulating the hot wire from the corner post
  • Crank Handle — Tightening the wire wraps around the insulator
  • High-Tensile Wire Meriwether Wire — Connecting to the bullnose insulator
  • Nipex Cutters Nipex — Cutting excess wire
