I Made Fake Beams in Our Bedroom
What happens here
Secure 2x6 lumber pieces, which will serve as the base plates, to the marked ceiling joists using a cordless impact drill and 3-inch screws. Ensure these base plates are installed straight and firmly into the underlying structure. Use a laser level to project a straight line across the ceiling, ensuring the alignment of the base plates is perfect. The video shows installing the base plates along the angled vaulted ceiling lines. For the central beam area where a ceiling fan is present, install wood blocking to extend the electrical box to the appropriate depth, ensuring it is flush with the bottom edge of the intended faux beam. For the side beams, if your lumber is too short, attach scrap pieces to the ends to extend them to the wall, providing multiple anchor points.
Goal: Attach 2x6 base plates to the ceiling and prepare the ceiling fan electrical box for the faux beam installation.
