I Made Fake Beams in Our Bedroom
What happens here
Construct the U-shaped faux beams using 1x6 and 1x4 lumber (or similar dimensions to create the desired beam width and depth). Apply wood glue to the edges where the pieces will join, ensuring full coverage. Use a brad nailer to secure the pieces together, and then use clamps to hold them firmly while the glue dries. Repeat this process for all the faux beams required for your ceiling. Once the glue is dry, measure and mark the angles on the ends of the U-shaped beams that will meet the walls and the central beam. A speed square and pencil are useful for marking these angles precisely. Use a miter saw to cut these angles. For the central beam that will house the fan, use a jigsaw to cut a curved section around the electrical box opening.
Goal: Assemble all the faux beams and cut their angled ends for a precise fit.
