What happens here

After the gravel is spread and roughly leveled, a plate compactor (a heavy-duty machine with a vibrating plate) is used to consolidate the aggregate. The worker guides the compactor over the entire gravel surface multiple times, working in overlapping passes. This process removes air voids, increases the density of the base, and prevents future settlement, which is critical for the longevity and stability of the paver patio.

Goal: The gravel base is compacted thoroughly using a plate compactor to ensure a dense and stable foundation for the pavers.
