I BROKE THE SAWMILL...AND THE TRUCK!

What happens here

Before starting the milling operation, perform essential checks on the Wood-Mizer sawmill. First, check the engine oil level. Next, adjust the blade tension: the operator typically loosens the blade tension to about 800 PSI when not in use to prolong blade life, and then tightens it to the recommended 2800-3000 PSI before milling. Finally, ensure the Lube Mizer reservoir is filled with soapy water (a mixture of approximately 1 pint of Dawn dish detergent per reservoir of water), which is essential for lubricating the blade to prevent overheating and premature wear while cutting through logs. The debarker system is also highlighted, noting that its engagement is indicated by a flashing light and it uses carbide bits to remove bark, protecting the main saw blade from dirt and debris.

Goal: Prepare the sawmill for safe and efficient operation.

Tools and materials

  • Debarker TechTron — Removes bark from logs to protect the main saw blade
  • Lube Mizer Reservoir Wood-Mizer — Holds lubricating fluid for the saw blade
  • Wood-Mizer Sawmill Wood-Mizer — The primary equipment for milling lumber
  • Dawn Dish Detergent Dawn — Mixed with water for blade lubrication in the Lube Mizer
  • Engine Oil — Lubricating the sawmill engine
  • Water Tap water — Mixed with dish detergent for blade lubrication
