I bought a Simple plug and Play salter by Boss 4K

What happens here

The BOSS VBX 6500 salt spreader is carefully lifted using an overhead hoist and then lowered into the bed of the white Ford F-250 pickup truck. The integrated fork pockets on the bottom of the spreader are designed to align with the truck bed, allowing for precise and stable placement. Once positioned, the spreader is secured into the truck bed, and the main electrical harness (power, ground, and control wires) is connected to the corresponding plugs at the rear of the spreader. This setup includes a main control plug, a power/ground plug, and a separate plug for the spinner, all feeding into a module within the spreader.

Goal: Securely place the spreader in the truck bed and connect its primary electrical components.

Tools and materials

  • BOSS VBX 6500 Salt Spreader BOSS — The main unit being installed
  • Chains/Slings — Attaching the spreader to the overhead hoist
  • Electrical Harness BOSS — Providing power and control signals to the spreader
  • Overhead Hoist — Lifting and positioning the heavy salt spreader
  • Pickup Truck Ford F-250 — The vehicle receiving the spreader

the back of my pickup truck Cameron's like 10 minutes into the install and he's already got it in the air and getting ready to toss her in this guy do business room no hey quick question Cameron how difficult is this to wire into the truck well not difficult at all the hardness is really really really straightforward it's basically just takeing power ground straight to your controller controller does the rest of the work for you and you just run the harness up into the firewall or whatever your choic is run it into the uh the cab there hook it up to your controller and then you just got your uh control harness going to the back of the truck for your spreader for your augur in this case we got the chain belt augur but there's really no difference in terms of the harness what kind of augur is this well that's a chain belt uh chain belt drive okay so you're going to have two different ones you're going to have the one where it's standard auger and then you're going to have one like this where it's more like a belt drive type of style yeah again that's kind of just depending on the customer what they like you know can you actually get either Style with this one yeah yeah so you can get either style you can get it with the augur or you can get it with this style um I believe that's the only the only other ones that they have if I remember correctly actually I'm trying to think if they do I think I think salt dogs are the one I don't think they make wet kits or anything for the is there an advantage to an augur Style versus the chain style to be honest with you I haven't done enough plowing myself to really be able to say myself as to what's more beneficial one or the other um I mean I can tell you probably just my experience with different salts and seeing some of these things come in for repairs that I mean if you're running something like rock salts and stuff like that it's probably going to be a bit easier on you just to have the standard ug because you're going to have less bits and pieces actually get jammed up in there you know rock hard that stuff you get especially when you let it sit in overnight you you think you're good cuz it's treated salt and then after it sits all that treatment washes off of it you got a big old rock in there you got a giant rock in your to exactly so I mean I think I think it's completely dependent on on what you're doing and experience and you know just kind of go from here hey Alex do you have a do you have a preference…
