HowTo Measure Landing 1080p

Let's measure our landing. We have our carpet stair treads installed. We have our painters tape. And we're going to get some measurements for our matching landing. Step one, the most important piece. Make sure that the width of your bullnose edge matches the width of your carpet stair tread that's just below. So, in this case, it's 35 in. You got to go from the left side to the right side. After you do that, you're going to take your painters tape and you're going to bring it straight out this way past your post. Make sure you clear this turn. This cannot be less than 2 in or it starts to get a little weird when we manufacture the landing. Okay, so this has to be longer than 2 in. Make the turn, go straight down, and you go all the way to the far side of this stair tread so that it has a perfectly straight line from the edge of your treads down to your landing. And then you run your painters tape straight back. You make the turn all the way around the back wall. And then it goes to meet the front edge of that bullnose. How much wood you want here is totally up to you. Some people like to take the carpet very close to the wall and some like to see more wood. That's up to you. And then get your tape measure. You measure all of your blue tape and sides. And that's it. That's how you order your landing.
