HowTo Install Treads 1080p

Hi everyone, it's Amy with Oak Valley Designs. I'm going to talk to you about cleaning your stairs in preparation for your new carpet stair treads. So, you can grab a microfiber cloth or any cloth really works. You can do a handheld vacuum or you can use both. And what I like to do is simply take the cloth, make sure you're wiping the entire stair tread, get all of the dust, all of the loose dirt off of here. And the idea is to keep it nice and dry so that the adhesive on the back of your stair tread will really stick nicely. Try to avoid using anything that'll make it greasy, like pledge or pine saw. And that's all you have to do. Install day. Let's make this easy. Grab your painters tape. Let's do a little bit of measuring and then you're ready to put your carpet stair treads down on your staircase. If you recall, we have a 4 inch wood reveal. That means from the wall to the inside of the tape, that will be 4 in. Once you measure this, you take one continuous piece of tape, you run it down your staircase, and then you simply put your treads on on the inside of each stair. Okay, the easiest part and the most rewarding part after all your measuring and hard work. These are your treads. They come in a box. Okay, all you do is peel off the back. Throw that in the floor. I've already put a few on, so I'm going to do the top step. Now, you see our painters tape is still here to guide us on the edge. So, everything is in alignment. You come to the next step and the first thing you do is hook the bullnose underneath the bottom edge and then pull back with this hand to make sure that it's nice and tight. So, as you press on the front and you pull on the back, put a little pressure across the tread, make sure it's lined up with the painters tape, and that's it. It's that easy.
